Default Auxiliary light switch function How to

Quick how to, I wanted my Aux pod lights on my 2020 FXLRS to use the OEM switch. Here is how I did it.

All left switch controls, including the cruise control version, have the aux light button. When you remove the left turn signal switch cap you will see it to the right.

The Aux light function is already enabled and does not require a trip to the dealer to program. However; the wiring is incomplete. You will see there are four wires on the female connector side and only three on the male connector side. The Blue wire with the Black stripe is the Aux light power. You will need to connect to this wire to power your Aux lights.

Once you have your lights wired up you can either modify your existing turn signal switch cap or purchase the Heritage classic switch cap from the dealer.

Un-modified cap

Modified cap

Heritage cap

Once everything is in place tap the switch. You should have your lights come on and the green icon light up on the speedo.

I hope this helps anyone wanting to run some Aux lights on their Softail.

The turn signal connectors are located in the neck junction block behind the rubber plug. Follow the wires from your handle bars down the triple tree and back towards the fuel tank, you'll see the rubber plug covering the hole in the frame.

Do you think I could wire my S2 aux lights to this switch or will it overload my harness?

Nice write up, out of curiosity i popped my turn signal cap off on my 2021 bob to see if that hidden button was there, sure enouygh plus the harley extended caps already have the mod in tact and work like a charm. Been wanting passing lamps as well, so i managed to score a whole like new set-up from a heritage along with the tree's in order to mount them up off ebay.

I would think yes, those shouldn't be much more draw than typical aux lights. If it were an issue you could use a relay in conjunction with the switch and it would work fine.
