I went for a ride during lunch today.
I was about 10 miles from home when my bike's clutch lever went limp. Totally disconnected.
I managed to make it home clutchless. The clutch cables both upper and lower seemed to be intacked, however the clutch cable adjuster not so much. Plastic and what looks like die cast metal. The cup that holds the upper cable had shattered. I went to my local dealership and ordered one. Surprisingly, less that four bucks.
Does anyone know of a heavy duty aftermarket version of this? Something more in the lines of what was on both my previous Sportsters... Substantial metal, chunky...
Just got back from the dealership.
The parts department had ordered me what they thought was the replacement piece for this part.

Well that ain't it. That is ONLY the plastic body for the adjuster. No guts! Well the guts are what broke on my bike...
The dealership doesn't believe Harley offers the part by itself. They think it only comes with the entire upper cable... That's nuts.
All it is, is a coupler to connect the upper and lower cables...
Both cables have a ball at the end that slide into each ends of the coupler in the image below. The one end, to the right, broke into pieces. That piece shouldn't even cost a buck.
I checked that out. That appears to replace the plastic red clip and cap that adds the auto adjust of the cable not the piece I broke and it's sold out (image included) https://www.fxrdivision.com/handleba...er-m8-softails
I went this route. 25 bucks more but it's the complete cable and replaces the plastic abomination with an old fashion manually adjusted steel turnbuckle...

What you broke (I think) doesn't happen too often, that red clip is usually the culprit and what I wanted to upgrade.
That's exactly what the mechanic at the dealership told me. (The parts guy couldn't believe the part came without the coupler so he brought out a mechanic to confirm)
My response, "In my case it's happened 100% of the time"

Just not the pot metal pos coupler. I can get that attached to an upper cable I don't need for ~$113.
