Default Very concerned

What's wrong with my 18 Fatboy 114. I read about owners having trouble with brakes, compensator, lean angles, hard to take corners, excessive vibrations, tire wear, uncomfortable and the biggest one, tongue dip. I'm sure that I missed a few.

I haven't experienced any of these, so I'm thinking that there's something wrong with my bike.

When I put on the V&H Big Radius pipes, i was told that those pipes are not good for torque.

When I twist my throttle I go and I go fast, so much so that I needed a back rest. When I put pressure on my brake pedal it slows or stops depending on how my pressure is applied.

As I was looking at cams, i read that I should stay away from the S&S 475 cam because it doesn't like the Big Radius pipes and that I was going to lose low end torque. It did run a little rough and sounded sick under 2,000 rpm, but a few auto tune sessions cleared that up.

And guess what, When I twist my throttle I go and I go fast, so much so that I still need the back rest. I've ridden without it and the M8 with this set up wants to push me backwards off my seat.

My 114 M8 sounds like a beast wanting to be set free. Have I had it dyno'd yet, nope. I've thought about it. But why? So that somebody can point to a chart and say: See, look, you have a torque dip right here. But I don't feel it, well it's here, look at the chart. Then they're likely to say that it's because of the Big Radius pipes and if I changed them, I wouldn't get that little blip on the chart. Why?

So what's wrong with my bike?

It's 04:44 and I'm just ranting.

All sounds good except that last part .. Remember, these things can get you worse then dead. Exercise caution on that twist grip.

Your bike is waiting until you get confident you're not going to have any problems at which time, it will launch it's entire drive train.
Be afraid, be very afraid.

Thanks. Lol

I did have something that you don't hear about. Earlier this year I started hearing a noise like something was dragging under the bike.

The more I listened and looked it sounded like it was coming from the primary. I put it up on the lift and dropped the rear wheel door, started it up and nothing.

After pulling the primary cover I found this chewed up dome looking thing. Somehow the oil spinner had become dislodge and was being thrown around inside of the primary.

All those problems are usually caused by using the wrong brand of oil.
The wrong brand of oil can cause:
- Lean angle issues
- Low torque when twisting the throttle
- Numbness hands and fingers
- Paint swirls
- Poor traction when wet
- Excessive tire wear.
- Wobbling at freeway speed
- Buffeting with Full Face helmets
- Key FOB issues
- etc. etc

You sir are lucky . . . you must be using the correct brand of oil

Try putting your gas cap in a different place when you refill. Hope this helps.

That kinda reminded me of a Dr. Suess book..."I go and go fast says the D-bag"
I go and I go fast...when I twist grip
my mind it starts to slip.
I go and I go fast...when I shift a gear
It's speed I really really fear.
I go and I go fast...when I stomp the brake
it's the speedo I think...it must be fake.
I go and I go fast...when I'm in a corner and I lean to far
In my blurred vision I see...oh **** its a car.
I go and I go fast...I know you must think im a D-bag and you can guess, that crash was knarly...
but at least I went out riding my harley.
don't take it personally op...just breaking your ***** lol. Hopefully it keeps going strong for you...oh i almost forgot...you'll void your warranty lol
