According to the Harley Davidson website specs, the cats are in the mufflers as they are with all Softail models.
What?!! You mean a salesman told me something that wasn't true?!! LOL!
Another salesman at the same dealer was insistent that the 2022 Heritage Classic 114 in Reef Blue with chrome trim wasn't available with cast wheels, even though the H-D web site shows it does and the other H-D dealer across town had one right on their lot.
Advice to salespersons, I get that you can't memorize every configuration of every model for every year, but if you don't know, just tell me you don't know and try to find the answer, don't just "wing it" or flat out lie to me. Also, spend a little time studying at least the models and options for the ~current~ model year.
And this isn't H-D dealer bashing, I've run into the same thing buying everything from cars to furniture. People in sales these days just don't think it's important to know anything about the product they're selling. Of course there are exceptions but I always seem to get the one that just started and all they know is the slick sales techniques they learned during orientation. Sorry for the rant, it's just one of the reasons I dread dealing with salesmen. ~Stepping off of my soapbox now~
This is the Grasshopper backrest on my wifes Heritage, she says it works well.
And, I put Rinehart mufflers on it. To me they are a great balance of louder but not obnoxious, and sound like a Harley should when you roll hard into the throttle.
Thanks, very helpful!!
Once she's had a chance to get comfortable on the Heritage I'm going to suggest a Tour Pak and luggage rack/passenger backrest like the one on your wife's bike. Are they from H-D?

That is what the Harley website says. And the Harley website is wrong, concerning at least one Softail, the Fat Bob. The Harley website says the 2022 Fat Bob catalyst is in the mufflers, and it absolutely is not, it is most definitely in the header pipe. Guys who have cut their cats out have posted pictures of exactly where they are.
The Harley website also currently claims that the header pipe is a 2-into-2. On previous model years they listed it as a 2-1-2. Here's a pic of their website from 2018 from the Wayback Machine.
And on the 2018 specs they listed the cats as in the header pipe. But I just verified on the parts finder that the header pipe part number is unchanged, from 2018 through 2022, and the part number for the mufflers is unchanged from 2018 through 2022. So which is it? Who knows? All I can determine from this is that the website is most definitely wrong on at least one count, and if it's wrong on that point, I don't trust it to be right anywhere else.

2018 Heritage 114....80k miles. more tail lights, maybe some lights around the tag. custom dynamics led's on front and back. mustache engine guard, works as engine protector AND highway pegs. Freedom lipped 19" windshield, prevents any buffeting. I put some Rox Risers (2") on to get bars a bit higher. used plug and play wire extensions to make the job easier. I wish Harley had non-spoke wheels in 2018. I had to seal my rear wheel to make it tubeless. I guess the most fun improvement was the Stage 11 at 65k miles. I ride in hot Florida, and was a bit worried about lifters and how they were holding up. Well, they looked fine, but I replaced with S&S, with a Harley tuner, and Harley torque cam. I didn't expect what I got Holy smoley, it is a different bike...........pulls like a tractor. I couldn't be happier.

The mount is HD, and the tour pack is from Viking bags.
Here are a couple more things you may want to consider, especially the rear brake light configuration I did. It's amazing how much better/brighter they are. Switch your rear bulbs and yellow lenses to red LED's then your dealer can do this flash for you.
We got the H-D engine guard and saddlebag guards installed last night along with some H-D highway pegs. My wife opted for the chrome engine guard to help break up the black just a little. I was a little skeptical how the chrome would look with the blacked out engine but I have to admit it looks pretty good and compliments the chrome on the headlights/passing lights and on the fender. We chose black saddlebag guards so they would they would kind of blend in.
installation on both the engine guards and saddlebag guards was fairly straightforward. The top center bolt on the engine guard was a little tight for my 3X size hands to get the nut on but I managed. The passenger pegs have to come off to mount the saddlebag guards under the passenger peg mounts, but fortunately, I had a T45 torx that would fit into the bore on the mount. I read several posts of others that stripped out the bolt heads but mine came out OK with a little effort.
The only issue I had is that I wasn’t expecting the detent ball on the passenger peg to come flying out when I pulled the first peg out. Funny how things like that seem to vaporize when they hit the floor. I was prepared when I removed the other side so she’ll just have to ride around with the left passenger peg down until I can get another ball.
My wife will finally get to ride it for the first time today. We brought it home on the trailer late Tuesday night and just haven’t been able to get out and ride for various reasons. Looks like it’s going to be a nice day today after a full day of rain yesterday.
I did the custom dynamics led front and rear turn signals, taillight with the 3 way module. That way you can adjust the tail light (brake) brightness to match the turn signal out put for braking, plus you can choose a strobe effect if you want. I recommend the DK customs floor board extensions, with the shifter spacer, moves the boards out about 3/4 of an inch. I added the S&S Super Street, 50 state 2:1 to keep the warranty. No tuner needed. That’s a good lookin bike, I almost went with that, but the white just caught my eye.
