Default You funny.....

Can you believe my trip to the dealership today was fruitful to say the least. I walk in and dead smack in front of me was a "23" Heritage Softail classic 114, black and all, mirror image with 1 exception, the bike was not leaning at all, it looked great. So I get one of the techs and asked why my bike "exact same model", only late 2022 and it feels like it's going to yip over every time I put the jiffy stand down. He looks, thinks then says, oh that's one of the issues with softails, either get a good stand or a shorter etc... one. Holy **** I said and asked since I only have 1000+ miles, how are they going to rectify my issue, he says he'd have me talk w/one of the bosses, but he wasn't in today. I don't know what happened to this company but boy have they nose dived hard. It's all sell, sell, sell, and just tell customers whatever to stall or wear em out?. I don't understand this!.

^^^^Absolutely this!

If it's any consolation it's no better, infact worse, here in the UK from my experience from an AD - promise this and that and never deliver.
(Name and shame - Cheltenham HD, United Kingdom - where's my HOG membership and where's my parts discount? - over a year now and I've given up and will go elsewhere)

Brace yourself when you come to make a warranty claim...chances are they'll find some way to wriggle out of it!
(Speedo condensation issue - clearly a manufacturing fault - HD are on revision 2 (70900685b) of the speedo - warranty claims dept. reply that it's a water ingress issue not covered under warranty)
Suffice to say I cancelled my extended 2 year warranty (before using it) and told them exactly what I thought about it/them.

Am I the only person who never had an issue with the stand on my heritage?
Easy to deploy and easy to take off stand as well.

Unless US spec bikes are different but I doubt that.

Mine is easy to deploy and take off the stand, too. It's just when you have to park it on a slant that the problem rears its ugly head. I'm pretty sure Scotland is also affected by gravity. Or maybe you just have better parking lot builders.

What is the problem with the stand when on a slant?

If the slant is left-leaning, I have to lean the bike way to the right to get the kickstand out from under the bike. If not, it will hit the ground and stop. Seems to be a common problem with Heritage owners. It's a minor pain, but a consistent one if you ride a lot, like I do.

Interesting. As I have stated earlier and in several other threads, I have a 19 and my wife has a 21 and we are NOT fans of the stock kickstand. That said, I feel the left lean of my bike is as it should be. That is, on a perfectly flat surface with no dropoff to the left. If we are on gravel or the surface lean is a bit to the right, or if there is any bit of dropoff on the left, of course, I do take extra care when lowering and later raising the kickstand. Again, I hold on tight, grab the front brake and always give the extra push to be sure the kickstand is fully deployed. If there is one part on that bike I don't trust - it's the stand.

Will I search out a replacement or aftermarket part? Maybe. But so far, as long as I am clearly focused on the process and well aware of my environment, it should be fine.

As one might guess, with friends, I am always the last one off the bike and everyone is usually waiting on me to saddle up and move out LOL

It's not just Heritage owners, us Fat Bob owners have the exact same problem. Very easily solved though by replacing the kickstand assembly with one from a Softail Deluxe, original Low Rider, or Softail Slim. It's a night and day difference and I love the new stand more than I should.

No you are not the only one.
I have a 2018 Heritage that I bought new with 63,000 miles on her now.

I have never had any issues deploying the jiffy stand.

I live in the US and I would assume the jiffy stand would be the same every where.

The Motor Company made exactly two M8 Heritages in the world with good kickstands. The rest of them suck.
