I replaced all of mine with the HD signature lights before I put more than 6 miles on the bike... They are very visible...
Then I went hunting for a fender hugger fixture and found one that I used to replace the rear lights. The giant ugly license plate illuminator was then gone and I was happy.

The guys I ride with complain that they can't see the difference between brake and tail lights (doesn't catch their eye at least) but they are old like me... so I have an idea how to mount the original signature lights to the bags and run the wires in the bags to the junctions under the seat (low to the bottom of the shortest bag and level on the longer bag between the tire and the bag). I am glad to hear that I can do this and keep the license plate lights with them.

Thanks.
I had the same issues with my Kodlins. At night, they were bright and you could tell the difference between running and stop. Not so much during the day.
I ran a custom dynamics LED strip under the fender, wired run/stop. Made a huge difference.
I didn't want to get rear-ended do the hundred bucks or so was worth it.

My license plate setup reduced the space between the fender and the bag. It is RST and has a less forgiving width accordingly. So I want to share the circuits if I can... that's why I will run the wires in the bags. I have extra mounting brackets which would let be cut them off... but I have decided that while I am at it I will drop them to the lowest point on the shortest bag.

If you're going with the lights in the bag, you might want to consider these: https://baggernation.com/product/thu...-amber-signal/
or these: https://baggernation.com/product/lig...-b-technology/
