USB-C Conversion
I had the same problem; H-D usb port could not keep iPhone 14 running GPS app charged. New, higher quality cable fixed it. Until I tried running a music app at the same time.
This fixed it:
Carpuride W702
Don't pay list price! Lots of discounts available from them.
Now I can run 2 apps with phone unplugged, it stays in my pocket. I expect that a long riding day, which hasn't happened yet, will require that the phone get plugged in at some point. Because the phone's display is off battery life is extended.
I have bluetooth speaker, but don't have a mic yet.
I wound up installing the H-D Electrical Connection Harness 69201599A to get multiple 12v power sources too.

As for fuses, that whole harness appears to be on a 15a circuit. The 69201750 cable that plugs into it is designed to run heated grips and a splitter too, so the core power delivery to that caddy harness should easily support a USB-C port.
@Howler_LI and @T^2 , are you able to use those screens while wearing gloves? That's a big thing I do not like about my phone, it needs a bare finger or a condom on my glove in order to respond.
If these units work fine with gloves, that kinda changes things. I'd still want better power, and I'd probably still leave the phone up in its cradle. But a bigger and more easily manipulated display sure would be nice.

Here is a picture of my display mounted on the bike (phone tucked away in windshield bag)... for what it's worth...
[QUOTE=foxtrapper;21633144] are you able to use those screens while wearing gloves? /QUOTE]
I've used all of mine; light, mid-weight & thick heated. No problem with gloves. An advantage of the 7" screen is the CarPlay icons are physically big & easier to hit while moving, even with gloves.
Of course, once into an app it depends on the design of the app. You shouldn't be entering addresses or fine-tuning an app while riding anyway. Generally, you'll be able to select a pre-entered address (favorites / recent) wearing gloves.
And btw, only CarPlay apps are available from the phone. So make sure the apps you want are compatible.

Chuckle, not looking to play with SD cards, watch movies or other such distracting stuff.
The bigger screen to display a larger map is the main appeal of this type of screen.
But also it if can respond like a GPS unit of old did, that would be great. Then I can easily swipe or zoom in and out with ease.
Old GPS units didn't care what touched their screen, they simply responded to the touch. I think that's resistive touch, and it was darn useful. Gloves, a stick, your finger, it didn't care.
The phone on the other hand, it wants only your finger, or a magical stylus or fabric. Think this type is capacitive touch. It's a pain in the butt, requiring special gloves or special finger condoms, and even then it's not reliable or consistent.
So if a display like this can be larger than my phone, better touch response than my phone, and hopefully more visible in bright light than my phone (my old garmin GPS is), those are all winning points.
But, if the display is bad or it doesn't respond to a gloved touch, then I'm far less interested. I'm also not at all sure about pairing the phone up to the display and my headset. Usually you can't pair to two things at the same time, although there are exceptions.

Perhaps getting such a display and a nice pair of touch screen compatible gloves might be far less of a hassle, perhaps less costly, and ultimately more useful than trying to retrofit a USB-C port onto the bike.
