Hi folks, I think I might have probably done something stupid.
i have just fitted some Oberon adjustable levers and now it won’t start.
The headlight comes on when the main switch is on and the
fuel pump works but there are no lights on the dash and no
starter motor.
Is it possible that a wiring problem on the handlebar switches could
cause this? I can’t see anything else out of place.
Neutral safety switch. Are you starting in neutral? I got used to not because you don't have to... But then it went out and it was a minor panic when I thought I was stranded...
4 and higher and it'll start in gear... as mentioned its to do with the neutral safety that the Oberons dont engage correctly from 1-3
...just knock it out of gear and it'll fire up from 1-3
Have them on my FLHXS, wifey has them on her FXBB, both luv 'um

Hi, I have checked and it is in neutral.
The headlight comes on but there are no lights on the Speedo.
The fuel pump powers when the ignition is switched on but none of the
other handlebar switches work.
Also the odd thing is if the bike is leant on the side stand, switching the
ignition switch on does nothing, not even the headlight works.
When changing the clutch lever, In order to get access to the circlip I rotated the switch cluster about 45 degrees.
Is it possible this could have caused damage to the wiring?

I have oberon Adjustables. They are fantastic levers but the surface that pushes the switch is too shallow.
You can get a small square of 3M tape and stick it onto the contact surface, but leave the red side peel tape on.
That'll fix the switch issue.
Ok so yesterday I had a look and found a blown fuse (5A). Replacing this made the dash lights work and it will now start.
The reason for the blown fuse, apart from me being a plonker, was that I managed to break 3 wires in the clutch lever switch cluster.
So out with the soldering iron and heat shrink and now everything is working 😀
