Some find them too small, they leak, and the locking mechanism is chintzy AF.
I guess there are people just looking for reasons to complain. The size is proportionate to the rest of the bike, it's not a bagger. They could have done better with the lock/latch mechanism, for sure. One of them fell apart during a trip on my wife's bike. I took the parts into a restaurant when we stopped for breakfast, borrowed a pair of channel-locks and fixed it. Wasn't a big deal.
The stock Heritage bags dont strike me as bad. They look good, and work. They certainly open and close easily and quickly enough. My biggest gripe with them is the glue not holding the leather/pleather down very well.
Ive got a set of black touring bike bags. I may try jiggering up a $40 set of amazon racks for cross country rides. Ill have to mount them up kinda high, but since I ride solo, thats not a big deal.
Mounting Touring bags on the Heritage is a good idea, some mounting harware exist for that, but you need to modify your exhaust in a two into one or true dual, it looks good after...
My only gripe with the oem bags on my ex Heritage was the capacity other than that I found them practical, you can open them with one hand sitting on the bike...
Speak for your ****ing self, I saw those spoked wheels and a consideration to trade my bike came up in my brain.
I would love those wheels on a bike.
I dont like that 2 into 1 but lots and lots and lots of harley riders ****ing love them, So that also makes total sense.
I dont get why people have to nitpick to **** and forget that other people have different style preferences, especially when it comes to harley but... At least realize yall that the bike that you like wont be the bike that the next rider likes.
You know how many people think the new fat boy nacelle is trash and the scathing **** that bike got?
But hey, It got this 30 something to buy one and ****in loves it years later still. Harley's been itching to get younger riders onto their bikes, this one worked at least once.
That bike is crazy popular in Germany for customization too.
I can say "Not my style but I get how someone else can like it."
I dont like the wagon wheel mags but hey, lots of people seem to like them, and you know what, that's ok.
The only criticism I have is just go back to base black FFS. No one wants flat *** grey on the base bike unless its a Lowrider ST, or something like that.
Actually the grey with the pinstripe on the fat boy kinda looks nice. But Fat Boy historically has always looked real nice in grey anyways.
We nitpick stuff because we're adults and don't get our **** in a knot when someone disagrees with us. If that bothers you, too ****ing bad.
Well, I went to the dealer Friday. I should have called first, but they had none on the floor. The sales manager said shipping has been backlogged and they should have two on Tuesday. WTF?
Anyway, I only went out of curiosity. I would be more interested if they came with the HO engine, but since they don’t, I’ll keep my 2020.

Not looking for a reason, the fact is they suck. what can you fit in them? put rain gear in one bag & the dam thing is full & bulging to the point the lock mechanism wont hold, that push down button is garbage. so you had to take your wife`s bag into a restaurant to fix & then you ask what the problem is with them. WTF!!!!! Oh and give it time they will leak right around that lock mechanism, every one I know who has came to my shop has bitched about it, might take time but they will leak, I tell them to come on here & look up the "plugs" the one poster listed that goes over the Lock to prevent the water puddling & leaking.
Tmac00333 - Throw a bag on the sissy bar...... guess you dont tour with wife? Yes I tour on a Heritage & for a hot minute - if everyone remembers HD listed the Heritage in the touring section
If you ride alone & carry very little then the Heritage bags will be fine but honestly the older style bags (not my favorites) hold more, will last longer & fit the nostalgia of what the Heritage line was meant to look like. Now I am starting to like what I see in the 25 Heritage with the tube less rims - (guys bitched about the spokes cause they feared long rides/tours & possible flats but a saddlebag that a gerbil will fill is ok???
The 25 Heritage will need all the upgrades the previous version needed other than the shock - maybe??? The seat sucks & passenger pillion is a pancake of steel that will cause an azz to throb after 10 minutes of riding, The bags......... enough said about those, the exhaust im not sure about? overall I like the changes but the bags, seat & that god awful tank badge would be removed & discarded.
