With this kit I was able to get all of the bolts off except for the one by the cylinder. I could get on it straight but could no get enough leverage. Harley loctite.
Does the oil return line need to be removed?
I’m going to go for it. It’s a rainy day. I have a ratcheting allen wrench and a drawer full of allen keys.
I can grind one or two down if needed.
I've had mine off 7 times I've done it so many times it's easy now . I've got a little Craftsman ratchet that takes bits works like a charm . Bought it years ago probably my most used tool on a bike .
Had a hell of a time doing it, but I finally got the stock cover off. The ball end of my ball end wrench broke the inside of a bolt! Took a long time to get it out!
Thanks to all who encouraged me to do this myself.
Didnt have to remove the exhaust system. Saved me the time and money to not have to take it to the dealership!
Time for happy hour 🍻
One thing cram a rag or something in the cracks on the bolts by the primary . I had one fall in there was a bitch to get out .
I read this post too late! Had to screw around with one dropping about three times!!
Used a magnet on a swivel deal to retrieve it. The third time I couldn’t get it out and walked away.
I found it on the floor on the right side of the bike.
This is great advice!!
Actually it’s not too late. I’m waiting until tomorrow to put the Trask on. I’m putting a rag in there! Thanks 🙏

Reason: New info
Pulling an exhaust is not that hard a job. Why the reluctance to do it?
Zach
Ive installed many exhaust systems. I didnt want to screw with it - and didnt have to!
It would have still been a pain to do what was required because you have to get bolts on the primary side.
I would have had to get new muffler clamps also. Maybe header gaskets.
I happened to buy the little Craftsman ratchet mentioned in an earlier post, couldnt have done it without it.
Still a hell of a job.
