Default Trask checkm8 install question

For those of you that have installed the Trask checkm8 transmission cover, did you have to remove the exhaust system? I put one of these on my CVO and it was a pain, but doable. I bought one for my Heritage but there is no clearance because of the exhaust header.

the bolt by the cylinder is the problem. I ended up pulling my exhaust . Probably could have got it but it makes it easier.

I don't have a touring bike or the Trask but I installed the late model cover on my 23 Lowrider ST and I had to pull the exhaust to do it. I have the Fuel Moto Contender and it was just too close to get to the bolt. I tried cutting an allen shorter but couldn't get my hands in there anyway.

They say on the Facebook M8 page you can install the new cover without pulling the exhaust I tried but never came close, also the side cover on my 22 Heritage was going to hit it also . I've got the NiceCNC cover on now but I'm still getting blow by in the intake .

Thanks for the replies. I’m not sure if I want to do this myself, or let my dealership put another hole in my wallet! Decisions decisions.

With this kit I was able to get all of the bolts off except for the one by the cylinder. I could get on it straight but could no get enough leverage.

We did it on my Heritage, but it took 2 guys 2 hours and one with very long fingers (without pulling exhaust).

^That's exactly how I installed mine without removing the exhaust (although I installed the H-D version). @Axedude That kit is Icon brand, sold at Harbor Freight.

Can it be done without removing anything = Yes (I did). Would it have been easier without things in the way = Yes. I used the same Icon kit as @Durham man pictured above (found at local Harbor Freight). No need to pay someone, just get correct mentality, tools and patience.
