Default Tire question

I got about 6700 miles out a rear Michelin Scorcher. Front tire still looks like it has plenty of life left.

Should I just get another rear Michelin Scorcher, and replace both front and rear when the time comes, or are there much better alternatives I should consider? I don't hate the Scorchers, but would like better turn-in and grip in the corners without sacrificing stability on the highway.

At some point I want to try Metzler CruiseTecs.

I installed CruiseTecs on my ‘20 Heritage Classic when I went from tubed to tubeless wheels earlier this year. They exceeded my expectations.

I've been running CruiseTecs on my FatBoy since I wore out the factory rubber. I love them!!!! If "they" made FatBoy sizes in the 888's, I'd love to try them.

Go CruiseTec and you'll be happy.

I ran 888's on my FatBob and it was a game changer.

I have run the Cruisetec's which are good better than the Scorcher but I'm currently using the Avon Cobra Chrome tyres, they are like another step-up from the Cruisetec, i haven't done much wet miles though

Stop debating and go order some Cruistechs right now. The Scorchers are pure garbage. I only got 6000 out of my front. I use them. You have to fight them thru corners. Turn in is night and day difference. I just replaced my first front which I got 13k out of. Time for another rear and I have close to18-19k. And yes, that is with more grip and better wet performance.

I have zero need for anything else... However, I have been curious about their Road techs and if I wanted to try anything I thought about Avons too... But definitely ditch the Scorchers... Both.... Now.

I got <10K out of a rear Metzeler Cruisetec. Pretty good tires but I preferred the ME888s.
Ran the Michelin Commander IIIs (handled poorly in the rain for me), original Dunlop D401/D402, and Dunlop American Elites

My current favorite of the group are the Dunlop American Elites.
I got +10K miles out of a rear AE and my present front tire has +20K and still looks like a few more thousand miles are left in it. Been though the rain with them and they handled it well.
I ordered a replacement for my front tire. It's waiting to be installed. I couldn't find an American Elite so I went with the replacement AE2.

I would be interested in hearing how the Avons compare to the Cruistecs when it comes to handling and wear. As I live in Arizona, rain isn't a big concern, but sometimes it does happen and I might have to ride in it.

While I've done less than 2k miles, they definitely handle and feel better than the Cruisetec does. no rain miles yet but this weekend I have a long ride with a less than favourable weather forecast, as for wear I'll have to let you know but they are reasonably soft & sticky

I don't know how it is in NZ, but here they are priced quite a bit less than Cruisetecs, ($60+ front & $45 rear) so if the longevity wasn't as good, the Avons might still be economically comparable. A lot of it of course depends on the rider. I am running the original Scorchers on my '21 Sport Glide with over 6K miles on them that still look really good.

I'm not wishing you any bad weather, but it would be nice to know how they handle wet conditions.
