Anyone install a burly easyboy lite mechanism to clutch cable of an M8? If so, any problems or suggestions? Did you have to remove exhaust system? Did you have to disconnect cooler lines to move cooler out of the way of exhaust flange nut? Thanks in advance, rem
Having had the trans cover off to install several different clutch ramps I can tell you it would be a whole lot easier if you take the exhaust headers off.
You don't need to remove the oil cooler. You can get to the inner front nut with a 1/2" x 1/4" drive socket on a 1/4" drive U joint and a long extension. I've tried almost every combination including wrenches and this woks the best.
As far as the easy boy lite clutch I have no experience installing this device (it looks easy enough) but you are going to lose pressure plate travel, just not sure how much, because it lengthens the arm on the ramps. I would make sure you have 21 degree ramps in there too because early M8s came with 19 degree ramps.
Good luck with the install and tell us how it went.
Thanks much gomer. The socket combo is a great tip. I'll have to check on the ramp situation. I installed this device on my ultra years ago with no problem. I don't know what the stock ramps were but I know I didn't change them. I'll have to do some more research and save some more pennies (I guess it'll have to be nickels now) if ramp change is required. No rush but the left hand arthritis is prompting the plan. Thanks again.
