I always have screen and the rubber protectors on my handheld devices. So when my 2020 RAM 3500 truck came with an 8.5 screen, I was thinking that it is not a hand held device that could be dropped. Then I went on a RAM truck board and found several threads about replacing cracked screens, and the benefit discussion of a screen protector. So I purchased a screen protector for my RAM.
I have screen protectors on all the touch screens for motorcycle and truck. The downsides (less sensitive is maybe one) I never experienced on any touch screen.
I say buy the screen protector. I have not looked at the price for the HD Infotainment.
