Want to go from 2 channel to 4 channel amped setup
Had a great set up on old bike with 2 speakers now got 4 speakers, looking for suggestions so I can use old equipment.
currently have
1 set Polk MM651 (2ohm) fairing
1 set boom 5x7 in saddlebags (would like to upgrade)
1 Rockford pbr 300x2 (to power fairing speakers)
Sony marine head unit.
What would you add for amp for saddlebag speakers
can you put 2 pbr 300x2 under fairing, thought I seen setup pics for this but in two days of searching here can not find
or would it be better to just go soundstream 4.520?
does polk make good 5x7 for saddlebags? or what are other reasonable priced upgrade 5x7 for saddlebags?
5x7 you can go with HAT (Hybrid Audio Technology) speakers as a drop in, or JM makes a 5x7 drop in. Biketronics has and adapter kit to do 6x9 in those 5x7 locations and comes with their 6x9 speakers.
The pictures I've seen with 2 rockfords in the batwing had them sitting side by side on top of the radio

My experience with class D amps (Soundstream) is that you lose FM radio reception, but that's not an issue for some. Hogtunes make a mount for a second amp. http://hogtunes.com/products/acc.html
I have the SS 4.520. Even though it was compared to a Yugo on a earlier post, it's a great amp for the money and I didn't lose FM reception...
That amp is FAR from a Yugo. . If a guy is budget conscience and not trying to impress his parking lot buddies. You can't beat that amp, The PA RZ4 or the PPI i520.4 for the money, especially with the Polks or the infinity's. I'll argue that point with anybody. . and win. . . lol
I'll probably end up upgrading my amp, since I need more power!!!!!! lol
But it has been a great amp, and has a great price point too...
I hear ya Austin. . .Power is King! That is the only reason I sold both my 520.D's. They are awesome with the 2 ohm speakers but once you get into 4 ohm speakers like the 7.1's or the Titan II's you need just a little more power to drive em. GP got it figured out 6 years ago. . You need at least 150 watts going to all of your 4 ohm speakers to be happy if you are an audio fanatic like me. . . lol
