I just ordered prepainted HD speaker bag lids (on backorder, of course) for my '14 SGS and other than the J&M speaker and the ones from HD, what are my options for a GOOD speaker that will work with the lids? I am pairing them with the Biketronics 7.1's upfront and a BT4180 amp.
What will fit, sound good and what mods (if any) will I need to do to the lids (cut out the basket, etc). I don't have the time or inclination to wait until someone comes out with aftermarket 6x9 lids and then find somewhere to have them painted to "match".

Do you know if the Biketronics BT479 will work on the '14 lids I ordered? I'd love to keep everything from one manufacturer and dealer?
No Sir. They will not. Last I heard Bill was working on this project. You might want to give him a call to find out if any progress has been made or at least a timeline for a roll out. The Hat speakers I mentioned are the same speakers Biketronics uses for their 5 x 7 application. They just don't have them paired with the 14 lids yet.
POlk audio came out with a set of mm571 speakers that match their 6.5 inch ones. They have a small magnet and would fit nice into the Harley bag lids, and they are no where near as much as the HAT speakers, I have a big amp running my polks and I love them.......
I just installed Hybrid Audio Technologies Imagine 157-2 5x7's in my new lids and have to say they are AWESOME!!!
SOOOOO glad I got them.... you can't go wrong
Are these direct bolt in to the '14 lids? I just got notice they shipped today and want to get the rest of my system ordered. All of this stuff is SO confusing.
Gannicus nailed it!! That's where my money would dissapear to without question!! Good advice on a good speaker from a good dude. I really don't think you can go wrong with hat speakers. It would be nice to get them from biketronics though, the service and the warranty is money well spent.

The holes are slightly off... with minor adjustments they fit just fine. I will recommend a gasket or a high density 1/8" weather stripping to seal the speakers to keep water out of your bags
