I finally finished the install of the Aquatic unit on my Limited. I did not install an amp and I did not replace the stock speakers and it sounds much better than the stock head unit. I will amp it at a later date along with speakers. I luckily found the pin out of the 35 pin connector to find the rear speaker wires. Once I found those it was a breeze.
Anyone know the difference between the 2 models Aquatics has to offer? Other than satellite radio and I know display screens are different. Do they both put out same power, do the same functions, work with handlebar controls? I cant see spending a couple hundred dollars more for the expensive one if the only difference is satellite radio.
AQ-MP-5BT-H has a black and white screen with usb for charging only, if you use a I pod it can only be used with the 3.5mm jack and then you do not get controls to change the song on the handle bars and it might be the same with a phone but I am not sure about that one, I do know the Ipod because I tried one, it has a shelf that does not slide out and no clock.
AQ-MP-5UBT-HS is a color screen, has a clock, has a slide out tray, it does support usb connections you have full controls also has a external usb port for charging, it also has 2 external 12v power function if you want to run other things like fancy lighting under your bike or other things.
Now if you use blue tooth I do not know what the difference is between the 2 in how the controls work.
I looked at them for over year and in the end it came down to being able to leave my iPod inside the unit and never have to worry about it being charged. I used to have the iPod mounted on the handlebars and use the 3.5 jack to play it on the stock HU, but every once in awhile I'd jump on and it'd be almost out of battery. I really didn't expect to use the Bluetooth as much as I do, but surprisingly enough Pandora works great from my phone with it. I have Sirius in my truck, so that was another plus for it as well. I bought the satellite connection kit with it and installed it, but haven't activated it yet, but probably will on the next long trip just to have options.
I have the AQ-MP-5BT-H model and I've been loving it so far!! My only gripe is that it doesn't support auto volume. I didn't think it was all that until I didn't have it!!
