3 questions hoping to get help with here. Have factory hk hu with sound stream amp and kappas in the fairing. 1, Hearing a motor hum through the speakers even when radio is off. Amp grounded to ground on frame near the battery. Tried moving the ground from battery to get fm reception back. Really didn't notice the hum till recently. Any fix? 2, The right side speaker just started cutting off while playing pretty loud. After cutting the bike off for a few minutes, cranked the bike up and speaker was working again. This has happened 3 times and just started recently. Is there a safety feature on the speaker to cut it off from maybe heat or just a bad speaker? Bought them used. I've had them on the bike about 3 months and just have started riding a lot. I do have poly fill around both speakers and the left one works fine, no problems, just the right. 3, Use blue tooth jack in the aux port to stream music from ph. The music sounds like its playing in a soup can. I can turn the jack in the aux port and it will sound deep, full and loud. This is hit and miss, sometimes works, sometimes don't, mostly don't work. Any fix? Sorry for the long post, just want to be clear for everybody so I might be able to get this aggravating mess straightened out.
The sound in your speakers my just be the noise floor of the amp. If your remote wire for the amp is connected to the headlight wire that means the amp is on even if the head unit is turned off. It may help some if you turn the gains down some on the amp.
Noise --- could be a ground loop. Also if you are suing RCA's make sure they are not touching the metal fairing brackets.
You may have the gains too high for the one side that keeps shutting down. Swap your speaker cables if the shutting down jumps to the other speaker it's your amp. For a set of Kappa's and that amp you should be around 11 o'clock or so at 3/4 max volume.
1. I assume the motor is running when you hear the motor hum with the stereo off? Start with changing the spark plugs if this is the case.
2. sounds like the amp may be going into protect mode. (check the gains)
3. HU Jack has went to hell in a handbasket. Time to upgrade.
4. Follow HAZE and Ridedaddy's recommendations as well. Good chit!
