So awhile back my speakers were cutting out and I thought it was the amp, turns out it was my ARC had no input. After buying a new ARC and replacing my cross overs on my Hawgwired 6.5's I figured I would be good so I used the DMM gain setting advice on this thread and got my volts set to 16.7 on my left speaker but when I tried to set it for my right it would not go over 6.3 volts... Turns out my HU has a burnt output according to ARC tech. Looks like I am replacing the HU and looking for reccomendations... This has been a nightmare.
Side note... I have some brand new Kappa 62.11i in the garage that I ordered thinking the speakers were bad. Should I swap when I swap the HU????
Yes I'd swap the HW's for the Kappa's and get a HU with features you're wanting ie. HD radio, bluetooth, USB ports front/rear etc. I like Alpine HU's personally but be sure to stick with big name mfg like Sony, Kenwood etc. etc.
The Crutchfield web portal is about the best place to search for features you want. You can filter by brand, feature etc. I run a Alpine CDE-154BT. One important feature especially on bikes is being able view the display in sunlight. The Alpine has a plethora of color choices.
I'm running a Kenwood X998. It has BT capabilities and has a front and rear USB ports. It can be difficult to see in the sunlight, but no other complaints in functionality and is super easy to use. Lots of great choices out there, just got to find the one that fits your budget and personal tastes! Good Luck!!!!

Appreciate the feedback guys. I just ordered the ASCW-1 and the metra 99-9600 and I'm talking with gannicus on a Sony head unit right now even though these posts are starting to scare me away from the Sony. Oh well, gannicus is giving me a great deal I think/hope so we will see what happens!
that 310 you're talking to Gannicus about is a good unit. I was referring to the latest models, specifically in my case now the MEX-GS810BH. But I'm seeing a couple of others in the different forums having issues with the new model Sony units.
