Default New setup for 2014 flhxs

Ive been following this forum for quite a while, and have read alll the posts on the 14 rushmore bikes.Im going to upgrade the system with front speakers and an amp.Have a few questions first ..
With the current situation with flashing the head unit and the magic box deal,is it really worth the horseshit to use an aftermarket amp over the HD BOOM units? Are the other amps that much an improvment over the boom system that its worth taking a chance on having problems with the flash?
The Biketronics speakers have a different bracket that replaces the pods in the fairing. Those pods are a bit big to be just a speaker mount.Id heard that they were a structural part of the fairing.Id emailed BT about this but didnt really get a good answer. The "robust bracket" supplied with the BT kit that replaces the pods seem to just be that,a speaker mount. Those pods extend from the outer edge of the fairing all the way down to the bottom edge of the mount.
