HELP me pick head unit.As far as i can tell Metra 99-9700 and asw1 kit is only option to still have handle bar controls ,anyone know of another option?
What would like is either marine deck or somekind of splash cover that would work with metra kit bike dose get caught in rain, all music is usb would like bt so can use phone for navigation ,easy to navigate artist genra ,songs and the best easy to see screen bigger brighter if there is a single din flip out that fits the want list and fits what is it?
Please help before i go postal on hd for this major POS they call a radio,a very nice easy to navagate touch screen and that is it .
I'm assuming you have a 2014+ touring model since you asked about the Metra 99-9700 kit. I've heard great things about them but will be waiting for biketronics to release their new kit because it offers a splash guard and won't limit me to marine head units. http://www.biketronics.com/2014-radio-mounting-kit/
There are a few great marine decks out there but you have to remember, a marine deck is not waterproof completely. Marine decks just withstand the elements longer. The Sony MEX70BT is a great option along with Sony DSX M50BT.
I'm assuming for the Streetglide and not the Dyna. If you don't use CD's then Sony 310BTX for Radio. Has an IPOD/IPhone/media player tray. BT sells their adapter for the handlebar controls or you can use the Axxess ASWC-1. Not marine but you can buy a cover. As a side note even though a radio is marine, it can still be damaged by water that enters the fairing through the gap between outer fairing and shield. My buddy just had this happen. Install a vapor barrier above the radio. The Sony is not marine but with vapor barrier and front cover you will be fine.
U csn get a splash guard for 20 bucks so no need to wait . BT has the vapor barrier for like 3 bucks .sure you can spend 200 on the above mention HU or you can spend 100 and get all the things you needhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00QH8...J5TKVCJSF90A4K

Just a fair warning on the metra kit! It's a POS!!! I tried it & the thumb controls didn't work after an hr on the phone with metra they just said "I don't know"! I sent tha kit back & ordered another 1 thinking it was just a bad kit, well the hand controls worked but it killed my battery in a day, everything is plug n play so I'm 99.9% I had it hooked up correctly so I went back to the 6.5 for now! I was using a pioneer 8700 deck & will say the sound was way better than the 6.5! Hopefully Biketronics get something figured out!

I would have to disagree on your statement. Along with many other guys on this forum, I am using the Metra and Axxess kit and have not had any issues with the thumb controls (once installed correctly) or issues with a battery. Maybe someone else that has experienced a dead battery will chime in. Biketronics has their own kit and have figured it out pretty good from all of the feedback on this forum. So not sure what you meant by your comment "Hopefully Biketronics get something figured out!"
All my controls work just fine.. Kinda hard to just a statement by someone who gets their products mixed up.. The metra kit clearly has nothing to do with the Axxess kit
Metra did admit that they had a problem early on with the 9700 kit that is was draining battery, new software has fixed problem and since all my gear is bt would like to buy there kit but not available and I really think bill is buying gear that would allow him to flash HD radio and that's way slow on kit, I just don't have patience for crap that dose not work, figure worst case out 200 bucks for metra kit and can always go back stock and put deck in something else.
