Hey guys, I have a road King that I'm working on over winter. I have a set of cycle sounds bag lids with JL C2 6x9's, My plan is to hook up a Rockford fosgate punch amp. Will this be enough on the highway with a windshield? Or should I crash bar speakers? I really don't want a fairing, if I did I would have bought a Road Glide.
Thanks
Actually to hear your bike on the highway you need the cycle sounds double up lids with two sets of those JL speakers and the crashbar speakers. Pushing it all with a soundstream PN4.1000D in the bags. The fosgate amp with one set of 6x9's won't get it done.
Yes Sir!! I'd say 3 times better. Especially with 4 ohm speakers. I've ran those JL's they require more power than the PBR can produce to sound good. They are excellent speakers with tons of bass but they need power. If you want to use the PBR my suggestion would be to go with the Infinity 693.11i speakers. They are 2 ohm and the PBR works much better with 2 ohm speakers.
I Will def. go with the sound stream amp. I am just gonna run the 2 speakers in the back because that is what I already have. I am gonna run some speakers on the crash bar also though. Thanks for the help and I'll let you know what I end up with. I forgot to mention I have a klock werks windshield and it does a ton better than stock. I actually think it does as good as my dads street glide at blocking wind.

Reason: Adding more
I forgot to ask do I need anything special to hook my iPhone to the amp? Or can I just use a y cable? Also how about this amp Soundstream ultra compact, super slim, extra very shallow motorcycle /car/truck class D power amplifier I found it on amazon. Here is the description.

Don?t let these little monsters fool you. The latest and greatest of class D full range technology allows us to pack 10 lbs of KICK YOUR *** in less than 2 lbs chassis. Once regarded as ?dirty power?, class Ds stable performance, thanks to high power capability, maximum efficiencies, and low tollerance components, rivals traditional full range applications. I found that amp too, I was just asking if that other one will work. It is smaller and seems to have the same specs. Sorry I'm illiterate when it comes to this stuff.

That's okay man . . . That's why we are on the forum everyday. To help guys like yourself save a little money. Lot of snake oil out there!! lol The soundstream ST4.1000 is a much weaker amp than the PN4.1000D. The specs you need to pay close attention to are the specs @ 4 ohms. If you look at the spec sheet you will notice that amp only produces 90 watts @ 4 ohms.
The SS PN4.1000D on the other hand produces 140 watts @ 4 ohms. Your speakers are rated @ 125 RMS. meaning that's the minimal amount of power it going to take for those speakers to sound good. 90 watts @ 4 ohms is going to underpower your speakers at high volume and you will get distortion.
Don't get me wrong that amp will work and the speakers will sound good. In the garage. Once you get out on the open road you will have to turn the volume way up to get it to sound like it did in the garage. That my friend is where you need more power to the speakers. On the open road!
If bag space is an issue for you, two PBR or B2 amps will fit on a non-ABS bike. I relocated the ECM and fit one above the battery and one in the right side cover. And yes, crash bar speakers are essential.
If bag space is not an issue, that SS is the way to go, and if bag space is really not an issue, cutting or drilling out the bags for multiple 6x9 Is also an option.
