A bluetooth enabled head unit, an unlimited data plan, and an iPhone ensures I can listen to anything I want. Pandora, Spotify, a dozen radio apps, plus my own library on iTunes. I have some stuff from an old file sharing site in my library, the sound quality suffers on some of them.
Just some streaming info for your pleasure. I've just started to stream, mainly at work, I have a tendency to do over the top research when starting something new lol
The "normal" default Spotify streaming quality on your computer is 160 kbps (kilobits per second), with each "bit" essentially being a "piece" of the song. It usually sounds fine, and lets you enjoy the song with decent sound. When you turn on the "high quality streaming" option, the stream opens up to 320 kbps.
Audio Quality. Pandora on the Web plays 64k AAC+ for free listeners and 192kbps for Pandora One subscribers. All in-home devices play 128kbps audio, and mobile devices receive a variety of different rates depending on the capability of the device and the network they are on, but never more than 64k AAC+.
Rhapsody continuously evaluates the best way to deliver high audio quality as efficiently as possible. Our mobile apps have the option of streaming Good (AAC+ 64 kb/s), Better (AAC 192 kb/s), and Best (AAC 320 kb/s). Tests show 64 kbps AAC+ is equivalent to 128 kbps MP3, yet requires only half the bandwidth to deliver.

As long as you have a signal. Mountains here in Colorado can be shetch. Wife and I stayed in a little town called Crawford, and a waitress who has lived there all her life has never owned a cell phone because you literally have to stand in a 3x3 spot on the side of one road in town to get a signal, lol. Most places we camp have no service, we use satellite radio and our library most of the time.
I have pulled the trigger on a high end system (BT4180&Pros, Motos). The only thing I have not ordered is a head unit. This because I prefer to use my phone for music as I use it for navigation. So I use Pandora when navigating. I currently have an Android phone. So for best sound quality A. Use the headphone output to aux (rear aux would be great or this) B. Bluetooth (maybe get the new APTX) C. USB (not sure if you can play music and charge at the same time with Android - if you say yes have you done it? Rear USB would be good for this) I want 4 amp+ outputs, bluetooth call answering, use my hand controls for volume etc and Pandora, and a decent equalizer. Kenwood has a new unit that was recommended to me that is marine grade, inexpensive and has everything I need except rear usb or aux. Ideal for me would be one wire from the rear permanently mounted to phone holder for one plug in charging and playback (if its possible). Second would be a power wire and and aux wire permanently mounted to the phone holder. If I use the aux input it would be a pain to plug it in front every time or leave it plugged in all the time in front. Thoughts?
I have lots of songs from Amazon. They copy easily to another folder on my desktop. Then, from there, I copy them to ITunes. That way, if ITunes ever tries to mess with me, I still have "my" music in another file. I also burn songs from my CD's to this same folder. Plenty of music to listen to on shuffle.
I am not a fan of ITunes but it works? The majority of my music has been ripped from CDs. I can't remember the last time I bought an album (CD) where I liked all the tracks. If I find a song I have to have I buy it on ITunes and pay the $1.29 for the non DRM versions. I have the settings in ITunes set to lossless so if I am ripping a CD or downloading I get the highest quality. With the cost of hard drives and USB sticks these days I would rather have the quality? Just my humble opinion.
I have removed a number of post here mentioning pirate sites. We don't allow that on HD Forums. There have been plenty of legit sources listed here. This thread is closed.
