I have the HU at flat eq, pn4.1000 front set at 11 o'clock gain, hpf, and crossover set at about 11 o'clock as well. With the BT 7.1 non pros.
Rear hertz Mille pro 6x9 with gain and crossover the same as above and also on hpf.
I no longer can go past about 35 of 50 with out getting distortion from the fronts. The problem is it's not very loud at that level so anything above 60 I can't hear.
Dont go past 34 on the sony. Distortion is at 35 and above. I have my gains at between 12-1 on the same amp. Eq should be xplode, hpf 80, slope 1, dynamic loudness off, dm on, listening postion all, rear bass enhancer off.
Ok thanks I'll give it a try when I get home tonight. There already pretty close to that minus the head unit stuff. I didn't see the slope? Dumb question but is it listed as slope lol. Thanks
that IS weird though. assume you use RCA outputs?
RCA SHOULD not distort ad any volume level from HU.... as it is low level output.
if 35 Vol is point of distortion, then yes, set to 34-35 with 1000Hz sine wave and dial in the gains on the amp (or use your ears with music - probably faster). use fader to do front first then rear.
Gann/Haze/... any idea on the distortion on the Sony HU (RCS - I would assume)? hope my posting will provide some add'l guys to comment.
Back in the day I tested both my first deck (Pioneer 4V pre-outs) and 998 (4V?) with my o scope and both did NOT distort at max volume!
Yeah with the old set up of Sony 310, ss pn4.520, and BT 7.1 non pros. I had the gain at 11 o'clock and could turn the radio all the way to 50 with no problem. I would ride four hours with it cranked up. Had this set up for about two years.
So the distortion now with the ss pn4.1000 with gain at 11 and the volume only hitting 35 is weird. Yes on rca cables.
I only get the distortion with the amp not on HU only

So with that said, dumb it down a little and look at it as a distortion preventative.... Only answer I can see is back down the gains a little. No disto without amp and then disto with the amp means its trying to amplify trash or its simply not dialed in correctly, right? Get these 3 involved (Gann Haze and AAWAV) and we will all learn something, and BTW AAWAV, welcome back!!!

Yeah I would agree, when I turned the gains down then the rears drowned out the fronts.
I'm just gonna reset everything and do them by ear separately when j get home. I probably messed something up and got frustrated last night lol

When Gann tested the Sony 310 HU with the DD-1 distortion started at 37.
