Install Complete (questions)
Thanks for the help/suggestions. Since my RF amp let loose and a road trip deadline was staring me in the face you guys came through. I wanted to go with a Biketronics 4180 amp but was unable to receive before departure date. So....
2005 Ultra
Sony MEX-M70BT
SS PN4.1000D
Infinity Kappa 62.11i (front)
Alpine SPR-60 (stock rear pods)
I was pulling out a previous install of a Sony HU with Arc Audio (front) and HT (rear) so the installation wasn't hard per se. The PN4.1000D is huge and heavy. Not much room for error inside the '05 batwing. An 1/8" can make or break you. I had already re-routed some wires but there is a wiremount nipple on the left (facing) down support that could stand to be cut off. Other than that, easy peasy.
I followed the pinned instructions for adjusting the gains by ear. The HU didn't distort the Kappa 62.11i to max 50 so I backed down to 38 and adjusted. The Alpines were the same. With the Kappas being 2 ohms and Alpine being 4 ohms there is a volume difference for sure.
Should I trust my gain adjustment and simply compensate via fader?
Has anyone crafted rear speaker rain covers? I ride so it's going to happen. In fact it has already but it was a lunch stop so I ran out and covered the Alpines with my rain jacket. Still catching grief over that.
Sound... O.O WOW! Riding 2 up so the rears were...well...safe from the rain but the fronts. That's the best sound I've had at 80mph in 80k+ miles. I ran both iPod and Galaxy S5 BT w/Pandora. Solid. Solid. Solid.
Thanks again for feedback. I've been a member here for years and HDForums NEVER lets me down.
