Default Audio System Recommendations for Road King Classic

I have a 2004 Road King Classic FLHRCI (soft saddlebags) that I bought new. I dont' use my windshield if it's warm out, so I can't install them behind the shield. Don't want to go nuts with a sound system, not looking to install speakers in the bags, just want 2 speakers mounted on the engine guards (approx 3 1/2 to 4 inch) and an amp installed on the front of the frame (or possibly in one of the bags if not too large) and an iPOD connector. Would appreciate any recommendations on systems that sound good. I know it won't be loud enough to hear on the highway, which is fine. I just want some tunes when riding on local roads. Any suggestions are appreciated. My guess is the standard Harley kit is probably average, I've heard good things about Hertz, I'm just starting to look into this, thanks.

I build the speaker buckets for the application you're talking about. I like the Alpine Type SPR and Arc Moto 602. They both put out great volume and have good bass response. You can here them at highway speeds too. Amp wise.... A B52, Diamond Micro2v2 or a DS18 Candy2 would push them NICELY and take up minimal space in your bag.

If you're putting them in your crash bars check out Tune Tatas, seem to be pretty popular for the price. You can add 6.5 speakers in that location and I would consider the highest sensitivity speakers possible in that location to get the most volume. Also check out the JL 280/4, it's marine rated and you bridged puts out some good juice. Lots of creative places to put it.

Which do you like better: alpine or arc Moto. Which has better bass response? Which amp is better with your speaker preference? Can I get speaker buckets in gloss black? Are the speakers 6.5"?
