So in my infinite thought process of what to do next with the bike i started thinking of trying some 8s in the bags facing the wheel.
I have to imagine these are probably more for parking lot than not, but I've heard that about lids and tour pak pods and since adding both i couldn't imagine going down the road without them for the surround type sound i get from them.
Ok, so for the 8s. I was thinking i could either add a third amp or see if i could find a decent 8 close to 93 spl and run it parallel with my lids and not add a third amp. I'm not sure if a third amp will be too much on the charging system or not.
Also with as loud and clear as the pioneer pros are and with the tour pak pods i wouldn't think any added horns would be needed in the bags.
If anyone had any input I'd appreciate the advice. Been looking at the Mojo, DD. and Hertz. I'm sure 6x9s would be sufficient, but kinda wanna try something a little different from that.
Honest advice --- I think you should sort out your fairing and amp in that location first before you start considering what you think you may or may not need. I know it's kinda tough, but in reality I'm guessing you have not personally heard DD's, Mojo's or SPL's. I say focus on your next phase which is your fairing THEN decide if you are still missing something. Maybe nothing, maybe volume....if volume while riding, then 8's in your bags doesn't help much. Heck maybe you want more bass, might as well add subs then. You see where I'm going.
I hear ya, just thinking out loud. All the overtime has me thinking too much lol. Just thought I'd see the pros and cons of a punchy mid bass 8 over a 6x9 if anyone had done it.
My Hertz HSK components should be showing up tomorrow or the next day and picked up a Diamond 4v2 to bridge to em. Put the Pioneer Pros in the lids today and they are loud and clear, a little light on the mid bass, but that might fix itself once they break in. I still have a set of pioneer d6902s i could mess with.
No one around here messes much with audio other than having the boom stuff installed when they buy their bike. So it's been hard to really hear what different stuff sounds like other than sound off vids, advice, and just trying it out.

I hear ya man, that's why I suggest you get one phase complete and then decide if your bike is missing something sound wise. So instead of saying "should I add 8's" you would ask "how can I get more bass" for example. Don't worry so much about the equipment whether it's an 8 or a horn, or should I do double up lids --- for what? I went thru this crap and saw a bunch of cool Facebook videos and was so excited to add DD 6.5's on my fairing and a set of DD VO 8's in the bags because DD Audio and 8's were the cool things to do. Dude, that stuff lasted two weeks TOPS on my bike. Didnt like the sound one bit.
So my tip is decided what you are missing in sound (volume, bass, highs, clarity, etc), not equipment.
