Default Batwing fairing speaker upgrade

I have an 03 ultra. Stock HK radio and speakers. Thinking about upgrading fairing speakers while fairing is off the bike.
Will I gain anything by upgrading the fairing and possibly the rear speakers while keeping the stock HK head unit? Just looking for more clarity.
Thanks for the info.

The guys on here who can really help will want to know your budget. I think you are going to have to add an amp if you upgrade the speaks.

I would not waste ur hard earned cash on a speaker only "upgrade." Save ur cash for a while and do an amp & speaker upgrade when your budget meets your audio expectations.

Unless I'm mistaken, your particular year model has 8 ohm speakers. I don't know of any aftermarket speakers that would match that impedance. It would be a bad idea to add 2 or 4 ohm speaks to a head unit that wants to see 8.

I would have to agree. Don't just waste your money on speakers only. It just not worth it.

Having just gone through some of this I agree and offer Hog Tunes ...
They are 8 Ohm speakers...and will sound ok in your bike for a good while.

I finaly got rid of my head unit from the FLHTCUI and added a mechless Alpine unit with Hawg Wired stuff so that my hand controls will work (and they do work too)

Speakers where all 8 Ohm oem and replaced the fronts with 4 Ohm speakers from HW and the rears will get replaced in the following paydays, lol.

Anyways, it will cost a few dollars to get some improvements over stock and my next learning curve is uploading the thumb drive and finding the music once it is uploaded.

More clarity is only going to come from an amp and good speakers.

Get these speakers:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_107MM65...6642385&awdv=c

And this amp:

https://jet.com/product/detail/8c662...wEMA&gclsrc=ds

You can use your stock radio with this set up. You need to wire the amp high level (speaker wires) and you will need a PAC SNI-35 Line leveler and a set of stinger RCA's

The 8 ohm thing doesn't matter. Your amp will be 2 or 4 ohm compatible.

https://www.amazon.com/Stinger-SI421.../dp/B005F1PJ1Y

8 gauge power and ground with a 60 amp inline barrel fuse.

You will also need these speaker adapters:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/1213587...&ul_noapp=true

This is a two speaker set up and will cost you about $300 bucks.
Loud and clear 80 mph.

Sonic Electronix has the MM651UM that don't have the separate cross-overs for same price. FYI..
