That is a really good radio my friend. Feel free to shoot me a message I have the gen 2 in stock and on sale for the holidays!!!
Yeah - It's a decent radio. But I don't think it's worth the price. Give me the Sony MEX-M70BT or the Kenwood 998 all day long. The Kenwood KMR-D765BT is really nice as well.

One of my brothas just installed one and it was a clean install and a good looking HU. Hand controls worked as advertised.
As for the EQ, it's not a audiophile grade set up but does have enuff bands to get u in a good place. Did not care for the canned EQ settings so got the "user" EQ dialed in accordingly.
If time is money, then it's a pretty good trade off for the extra $$$$ for this HU. Very simple plug and play install. A hell of a damn good financial move compared to that HD IPod interface thingamajig!!!!!

Yeah I think you are definitely correct on the cash end. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I am getting the Kappas today. I'll install them this evening. I got word that the Aquatic head unit is getting refreshed and the new one should be out the end of December. The new one will have a clock, SiriusXM ready and a dummy faceplate to keep the rain out of the phone cavity when you put the active faceplate in your bag. Those upgrades are worth waiting a bit to me.
I would consider another unit if all the hand controls worked without adding another piece of hardware. But, this Aquatic was specifically made for a Harley and has all the same functionality with the exception of one thing. It does not have auto volume.

When u start adding amp and pushing the limits of your audio system, you will not want auto volume enabled anyways. It has a tendency to blow speakers up so not a feature to be concerned about losing.

I'm not sure what you think it takes to make the controls work with other radios but the interface for that is very small and relatively inexpensive depending on which one you choose.
