So after endless internal struggle, I decided I need a stereo system. Never thought I would, but..... I do. I reinstalled my stock mufflers and bought this snazzy radio cabinet that mounts the stereo and 2 6.5 round speakers to the windshield. The project has a self imposed budget of $500. And $150 of that went with the mounting cabinet. I have done extensive reading here an trust Biketronics, and since they recommended the Kenwood KDC-X500 head unit, thats what I bought. Which leaves my final purchase, speakers. My max budget is $200. I believe I have narrowed it down to two choices. I realize that Biketronics might be the best choice, but not at this point. If I LOVE the stereo, I will put whatever I buy in the lower fairings, and purchase Biketronics speakers. But till them these are my potential choices:
1. Alpine SPS 610S
2. Kenwood KFC-P709Ps.
Any input or preferences about these OR ANY speakers below the $200 price point is welcome. Please feel free to skool me, cause I know almost nothing about stereos. Like seriously... nothing. I only know what I am willing to spend.
Please advise!
I'm glad to hear support for the Alpines. That was the direction I was leaning. But I can't imagine an amp is needed with just two speakers. Is that not the case?
Edit: and would the Alpine SPR-60c be as good, better, or a worse choice than the 610c??? Please advise.

Actually those Alpines are components. Meaning the woofer and the tweeter are separated. With your configuration it's gonna take some modification to run those speakers. Not only that. They need plenty power to sound good. If you go with the Alpines you will need the coaxial version. SPR 60. As my friend Haze stated 100% you are going to need an amp. A small amp like the Cerwin Vega B52 is all you need. Can't hear your music riding down the highway at 70mph with no amp. Bike audio is much different than car audio.
Like I stated, I truly do know nothing about audio. Thank you both for the excellent replies.
OK, lets say I go with the SPR-60. I see both SPR-60 and SPR-60c. Is that a big difference? Which one do I want? Also....... if I need an amp, I guess I need an amp. What are my options other than the Cerwin? Not that that's not perfect, I just need to know what else works so I can shop around. Size also matters since this is a Road King. The amp is likely going to wind up in the saddlebag, since I have only a windshield, and no fairing to hide it under.

The SPR 60c is the component version with separate tweets and crossovers.
Will the Cerwiin amp be adequate if I add a second set of 6.5's to my lower fairings?
The b52 amp is stable at a 2 ohm load so if and when you would put lowers on and install speakers you would have to make sure all 4 speakers were 4 ohm.
That way when you wire everything up in parallel the amp would see a 2 ohm load. But before jumping the gun and buying speakers make sure that they have similar specs so they play/sound good together
Example.
Both left upper and lower speakers wired to the left output of the amp +s to the + output and - to the - output which would give you a 2 ohm load on the amp.

Oh, I got lower fairings. They just weren't on in my sig pic. All I need is a set of Mutazu Speaker Pods and I can install a second set of 6.5's. I even have a cheap set of Pyle 4 ohm 6.5's just waiting to go in them. They are cheap $29 speaker's and I wasn't even planning to use them, but may if I opt to do a four speaker system, until I actually get a second set of quality speakers. If needed.
I hope I am following your logic, but I will start searching out amps. It never even occurred to me till someone shot me a PM, but if I buy used stuff right off our forums here, I might be able to get some great parts and still be well UNDER budget!!!
