Boss Audio A Joke
Chrome 600 watt Motorcycle/ATV Sound System with Built-in FM Tuner
Purchased in June 2016 from www.sonicelectronix.com . Speakers were both blown by September. Contacted seller and they were willing to repair but not replace or refund. Decided by the time I paid for the shipping I could just repair them myself and not have to completely uninstall the system from my Harley (major pain, tank has to come off). Finally got around to doing it today. Imagine my surprise when I removed the speakers from the mounts and looked at the backs of the speakers. This is a direct quote from the manufacturer:
Power Handling:Peak: 600 watts per pair / 300 watts each RMS: 100 watts per pair / 50 watts each.
Needless to say I was shocked when I saw the speakers are only 8 watts. OF COURSE THEY ARE BLOWN, HOW COULD THEY NOT BE!!!
THATS ABOUT AS DISHONEST AS YOU CAN GET !!! I WILL BE TELLING EVERYONE I RIDE WITH AND EVERY HARLEY OWNER I MEET !!!
TALK ABOUT FALSE ADVERTISING !
I CONSIDER THIS ;
Breach of Implied Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing in a Consumer Transaction . I feel I have been financially damaged with no recourse. I have an unusable product that was grossly misrepresented and incurred expenses having said product installed. I will now be out further expense to have the product uninstalled or repaired.
I am sure if I go to the expense of having the system removed from my Harley and pay to ship it back to the seller or manufacturer, they will just put more 8 watt speakers in it. If I wanted a 10 or 20 watt stereo I could have paid considerably less. I want what I paid for!!!
I am a Disabled Iraq War Vet and live on a very modest V.A. Disability Pension while raising 3 kids. This was a major expense for me!
If they stand by their product(s)...they'll bend.
i have a 2008 1200c sportster so my only option is a handlebar mount.
Guess I should just be thankful I am ABLE to ride.
BOSS / Sonic Electronix , customer service is worthless. I bought the system directly from them. First they said they would refund or replace the system. Fine with me. So I asked them what I needed to do. Two days later they said they would only repair it. I asked them about their previous email saying they would refund or replace the system, and what I needed to do to get it going? That was the last I have heard from them.

Thank you for your service.
When you call customer service, ask to speak with a manager or supervisor. Explain that the system is totally mis-matched and even repaired or replaced with the same speakers you will have this issue again. Ask to return them for a store credit and save up some money and move up to a better handlebar system.
This is a tough time of year to get anything done that is not a normal return or warranty. They bring in a lot of part time help and some of these people really don't care.
I deal with Sonic on a regular basis and have always been treated fair by their customer service. Being cool, calm and collected with your phone manors will go a long way in your success of moving up to a better system. Nobody likes to be yelled at, especially part-time help making minimum wage.

Can you post the exact model # of the kit you bought? Can you also supply pics of the back of the speaker?
Let me do a little research on these products and I will see if I can help you try and get this resolved.
