Ok folks, I posted an inquiry in another post about "louder-fairing or lowers or fairing bridged?" but don't want to hijack that thread so I am starting this one.
I am running Focal 165 Krc in my fairing and BT 6.5 TItan II in the lowers off a BT 2180 in parallel with a stock HU. It sounds good and is loud but would consider spending a few more $ for even better.
I had previously asked whether running a 4180 and being able to fade power between the fairing and lowers would be worth the money for at least the same volume and better sq. Most said it would not. Is it even worth going 4 channel based on what I have?
I'm not looking to go with components like our true sound gurus are doing and really, my old ears probably couldn't justify the effort. I would however consider a different amp if it would be worth it. I've read and read but can't really figure out what the recommended amps would be that a) give me as much or more power as the 2180 (b) fit in the fairing on the BT tray and c) have better sq (I assume tunable). If I did go with a new amp I would need one that could be reasonably set up with settings/tuning recommended by you guys and not using fancy equipment.
What amps do you guys recommend and what could I expect? I can sell my almost new 2180 to offset the cost.
On a related note, I have a set of BT 7.1 non-pro that I replaced with the Focals. The 7.1s won't fit in the lowers but if putting them back in the uppers and the Focals in the lowers would sound better I could go there also. Doubtful but it is an option.
As always, thanks!

The Focal 165 Krc's and BT 6.5 TItan II (HAT Imagine Series) are a very closely matched speakers. I am a big fan of both. The Non-Pro 7.1's not so much. even though they are just a larger version of the Titan II 6.5", I am not a fan of their sound.
From what I remember from talking with Bill at BT the 2180 puts out about 130-140 watts RMS x 4 when wired in Parallel.
I think a Arc Moto 600.4 would give you the ability to tune each set of speakers differently and add a little power.
IMO... a better option would be to put 2 DA Micro2V2 amps and run each set of speakers off their own amp. I think the DA Micro2V2 amps have a richer sound straight out of the box than the Arc 600.4 and I know for a fact they are louder channel for channel
BTW...my opinion and $5 will get you a really good cup of coffee at Starbucks.
I would get with Haze with "Bagger Audio Labs" and see if he has some options for you. He understands the "Whats it's doing and the Why it's doing it" so much better than most people
Another thing to consider is if FM radio is important to you? The Arc/BT amps will have no affect on your FM signal. Others might mean a degradation/loss of FM. Others will chime in...
One option. Run a strong tunable 2 channel, run the HCX in parallel on ch 1 and the KRC in parallel on ch 2 (or vice versa). You would have gain and crossover control to each set of speakers.
Just add one of the good micro 4 channel amps to the fairing and bridge it. That NVX will sit on the JM amp tray next to a 4180 so with a 2180 the footprint u should be just fine.

T - You've mentioned the NVX in a few times in other threads. Where does it rank in SQ compared to other 4 channel amps like ARC Moto 600.4, RF T400x4ad, SS TN4.900d, HDP4 etc.? I like the idea of the small size and price isn't too bad but is it good enough to use with the Area 51 shix?

Matt if you use a 2 channel and run 4 speaks in parallel you will only have tenability over all four at the same time. You will not be able to separately tune each set of speaks bud.

In my personal opinion I wouldn't use an nvx on the stuff your using for speaks...I just don't think it is high grade enough to do them justice.
