Default Head unit change or not?

Looking at installing a Diamond amp, and 4 Hertz speakers. Do I NEED to replace the head unit? Will it make that much difference?

On a rushmore I wouldn't until there's a truly better alternative available.

Of course you don't have to on a 13 down, but given everything that you gain (way better sound quality, bluetooth, easy XM setup, 1 or 2 USB inputs depending on model, etc, etc) I would pull the stocker and go aftermarket in a heartbeat. Pretty much the only thing anyone would ever lose is CB.

I agree with roadie. If you have a pre-Rushmore I would swap out the head unit. It's not needed, but would make a big difference in sound and open a lot of options for you.
