I'm not sure if there's a concrete right or wrong answer. There's a few threads on here with guys saying to just go ahead and run two 8ga power/ground wires from the battery and I know others (Bunker IIRC??) have run 4ga to distribution blocks in the fairing and then 8ga to each amp. I know my local mechanic does a lot of installs and he prefers distribution blocks when there's room because he's pretty meticulous and prefers a clean install, but he has used both and when I was considering changing my set up last summer he said he's never had a problem going either route.

I'm not enough of an electrical guy to be able to say if one method is electrically more "right" than the other.

Leave the fuses in the amps. The fuses you need are inline fuses for the power cables. Mainly mounted in or around the battery compartment.

I have 4 gauge from the battery to an inline fuse with 100 amp fuse (about 6" from the battery, I wired it behind the side cover for easy access).

I then ran the 4 gauge to the fairing and into a 3 out fused distribution block. I currently run only 2 out, both 8 gauge with 60 amp fuses to 2 TM400x2's.

There is plenty room under the tank if you want to run 2 8 gauge runs, just make sure you have inline fuses about 6" from the battery post. Lots of room in front of the battery also if you don't want to rearrange the inside of the side cover.
