Default Speed Volume

I've been searching the site but haven't been able to find the info I want.

What are some opinions on the Speed Volume settings? Particularly for Rushmore models. I like using it because it seems to boost the volume at speed and reduces the volume automatically when I stop at a light. I've heard people say it's bad for speakers but is that true? Why would there be the option if it was harmful?

I don't know the reasoning behind it but everyone here that knows a lot more than I do say "shut it off" and so that's what I do. Someone knows the reason and they'll let us both know soon enough.

If you have a stock audio system you will be fine using this feature.
But as most that come to the Forum their systems are not stock from a the adding/changing amps and speakers to there sleds.
What the AVC does is takes the speed and increases the output voltage of the headunit to the speakers. If you are using an aftermarket amp with your stock headunit this is a bad feature as when setting the gains on the amp to match the headunit the bike is not in motion so the output voltage does not change.
I did some testing a few years ago and found that when the avc is on the output voltage increases between 5 volts to 15 volts depending on the setting of the AVC.
So with the added input voltage to an amp from the headunit the output of the amp will increase dramatically.
