Default 2018 RGS build question

getting ready to pull the trigger on my 2018 build, after a few weeks of reading threads here, I'm pretty sure i know what I'm after, I'm more concerned about SQ than loudness for sure.

here's what I'm leaning towards. any feedback would be greatly appreciated;

AMP Focal FDP Sport
Questions, I know I need 2 BT line levelers, would it best to just get the harness from them that comes with two? do I really need that since the amp is supposedly plug and play? and If I do that there is no need for a dealer flash correct?

And do I need a mounting plate for the 2018?

I'm thinking Polk MM692 for the lids.

In the fairing is where I'm not so sure, there are some good deals on a package from Polk with with their 6.5 MM's, didn't see much info on them here though.

or would I be better off with the Hertz HCX? or the stupid expensive Focals? I have focals in my car I know their quality and sound, just not sure it's really worth in on a bike..

Thanks in advance!

Mike

2 LL is only necessary if you want to fade which seems kinda useless on a bike especially once riding. Can't help ya on the amp mount other than to say that my 800.4 ad is sitting on top of th the headlight. As far as speakers go I only have experience with the hcx'sand I honestly didn't love them. They were lacking punch/ low end for me

Thanks, I do think it would be nice to be able to set front back separately, I’ll keep reading

Unless you have an ultra, the factory Road Glide radio will only output 2 channels, so you only need 1 LL. But the Focal FDP Sport amp, will take those 2 channels and output 4 channels to your speakers, you just won’t have fade control.

Go to the HD MOCO and have it flashed for the Ultra configuration and that will open up HU for the front - rear fade. Get the 2 LLs from BT for your specific sled and ur all set.
I too prefer the ability to fade on the fly.

perfect! thank you! any recommendations on speakers? I'm all ears, won't have my bag lids for 4-5 weeks, so I have plenty of time to get everything in order. I went round and round on my last bike, I'd like to do this once ( ya I know how that goes lol)

I too like the ability to fade my speakers. As far as 6x9's goes, everyone has different listening preference and taste. Keep in mind that no speaker is "water proof". Marine grade speakers are water resistant but I personally wouldn't loose sleep with a non marine speaker. I have Hertz mpx 690.3 and like them. They are a bit $$ but I know they will handle all you throw at them. Hertz hcx 690's are just as good and are a bit cheaper. I, just wanted the mpx as they are the newest edition to the Hertz lineup. There was a couple of reviews about the Pioneer TS6900PRO and how they just rock the house, are cheap and can handle the power too. I haven't heard these but I trust the guys talking about them.
