Default Cracked Kappa 6x9 speaker frame

So at just under a year installed, my Kappa 693's are toast. The frame cracked. I've owned them for a year and a half so no warranty. These speakers have a very heavy magnet and the frame feels light weight (weak) in comparison. I've seen some people talk about this on the 6.5's but haven't really heard anyone talk about the 6x9's.

To me, they sound great. They do get loud and are clear and for the price a good buy.

Just passing on some info for folks considering these.

Yep - Serious defect on the Kappa 6X9's. Several guys I know had the same issue after a year or two on the bike. Good sounding speakers but they don't hold up on a bike. Thanks for sharing bro!

You're welcome Gann. You've always given me some great advice and information along with others on this board. Figured I would share and maybe others can benefit. Now to find an alternate replacement. This was being driven by a Precision Power 350.2.
Any recommendations?

JBL GTO 938 if you can find em. The frame is metal and won't crack.

You might take a look at the hertz hcx or mpx lineup. I know not many here have them or tried them but I have to say they are solid and sound good. Not the cheapest but a great speaker.

We all tried em and sold em. Matter of fact I tried em twice. Not warm speakers and very little bass. Not too many guys run those anymore. They are power hungry and way too expensive not to have any bass.

Polk MM692's are lightweight, ultra marine certified and has a 150W RMS. I run them on my scoot, and can attest, they sound phenomenal.
