First off I would like to say thank you to those that provide their time and energy to help out others on this forum.
Last winter I upgraded my 2016 SGS audio with a JL 280/4 amp and HD front and rear stage 1 speakers. That setup worked ok for what it was but the HU wigged out and sent the volume to max blowing the rear speakers. My dealer ran an update on the software fixing that issue and now I need to work on the audio again.
I'm looking for a decent system for almost all types of music mostly oldies, rock and country. Sorry just can't get into RAP. I would like decent SQ and the ability to hear it at highway speed 70ish...
I have the original HU and want to keep it since I had already added the CB and XM modules prior to starting the audio upgrade. I also like the look and features...
With that said what are the best bang for the buck options for Amps, Fairing speakers and Lid Speakers. I don't care if I need the BT speaker brackets for the fairing but that's an added cost that has to be considered. I already have an amp tray, BT Line Levelers, RCA's and 8Ga wiring that will be reused.
I have been searching the forum daily and think I've narrowed down the choices but there's way too much info and many changes to recommendations each day. Thinking RF 4 channel amp with WXD6Motos in the fairing along with the Pioneer Pros for the lids. Am I close??? I don't need plug and play and I have a fair budget.
PK, you have made some good choices for a budget based system. What RF amp are you thinking about, stay away from the Punch amps, the Tm 400XAD, is decent but a little under powered, but would work with the WXD6 and the pioneers or Polks, another option for a budget amp is the Soundstream 1000d. I didn't like the Pioneers Pros myself, very brash, I would use the Polk MM 692 instead.

I am currently (yes currently) running the tm400 4xad amp with the motos in front and very pleased with the results. I also am running the hertz mpx 690.3 in the rears and those are an excellent choice for the rears with that amp. I tried the pioneer pros and were a little harsh for my ears. They are a great budget 6x9 as the hertz are a bit pricey but I really like the results of the hertz. With that amp, you can run the motos at full pass with no distortion in the lows as long as you don't crank the gains. You can also run the hertz all pass and crank the hell out of them as they are bullet proof and the lows will shake your bags.

Thanks for the reply..
The Polk's look like a better match to the WDX6Motos than the Pioneer Pro's based off the specs and I like the marine rating for the bags. I'm definitely not going the Punch route! The new TM400X4ad was my first choice based off previous posts but I'm open to suggestions on a quality amp that puts out good SQ. That's how I ended up with the JL. Even looked at the Focal Sport but both the SS and RF look more user friendly with the RF getting an edge based off size and ratings so far.

I appreciate the response!
I am surprised that you are running the RF TM400X4ad. I thought that I read a post where you had the new Focal Sport. I'm happy to hear that you like the amp and WDX6Moto combination. So far that's the direction I'm leaning towards. As far as the rear speakers are concerned I've decided against the Pioneer Pro's but those Mille Pros have a hefty price tag for me.

I was but that amp is a power monster. Read the thread on amp warmth and you will learn a lot. Yea the milles are pricy but with that amp, in my opinion the best 6x9 combo you can get for now. I have a new set of 6x9's I'm waiting for and will post a review on them when they get here.

Can I ask what your RF amp settings are at for the Moto speakers? I just installed these yesterday and had gain settings at half and as I raised the radio volume got more and more nervous I was going to blow the speakers lol.
I am running 80 frequency with the speaker and waitin on a BT line leveler.

Let me know!
Thanks!
First I wouldn't do anything until the lineleveler is in play. Once that is in line, tuning is easy with that amp. Set the hu flat (treble/bass) hp filter around 80-90 and volume at 3/4. You turn the gains up until you rear distortion then back it down a bit. Some suggest using a DVM and that is good but final tweaking has to be done by ear. Every amp and speaker is different so tuning is different on every setup. The gain may be at 1-2 oclock on some but 11-12 on others. The key is hearing distortion or any bad sound and back off the gain a tad

Great suggestion! I will try that tonight!
