You mentioned using 6.5's for different applications. When you look at a 6.5 what comes to mind? For exmaple, I see a 6.5 and think, okay this will be great in a lid but its going to need a lot of power to really create a spacious rear end (like wide *** sound). So I might decide to put two pairs of 6.5s in the back over a single 8. Then I need to think, how am I going to get the front 6.5's to blend right with the rear 6.5's to avoid sounding like its just music coming from all over the place and not a nice transition. Do you double up on power to the front or do you like to power the hell out of the rears?
I like Hertz 8's in the lids. I think the vocal range is stupid good. I could stick my face in them and be happy all day listening to Nora Jones. I don't feel the same way with 6.5's or even 6x9's.
It's probably way off the OP's topic but that's what I'm getting at. Guys wanna get to know the thought process. I don't think you'd shy away from it, that's just paranoia.
Finally!!!!! Someone that we can talk to!!! IMO we like to use dual 6.5s in the lids, with a AST-50 tweeter. Put a 800x4 to them and they scream with perfect tonality. IMO. Up front a set of Beyma 6cxnd with a 600x1 to each. Again, IMO this is a great setup for a mid priced system.. I know nothing about Nora Jones though. Have to try it.

Again, it depends on how we are tuning and what we are tuning. Hertz? Beyma? Most of the time now we are using a DSP on systems with 6 or more speakers. I would guess most people on here do not want to mess with a DSP. When your ready to tune your setup shoot me a message. Maybe we can help you out.
Several of us with Rushmore bikes are using a dsp on here. I haven't found a better way to deal with the stock head unit. Careful Louie, I might take you up on that offer. Lol

so take it another level of info sharing.. What, if anything, can transfer to a mid level guy setup. I am stuck with factory lids (see also anniversary paint) but very interested in the strategies, amp/speaker pairings etc that I might be able to apply and experiences I can learn from, good or bad that translate to a daily driver use case.

Well King Louie, a lot of the regular hard core dudes on here are using DSP, or are contemplating using one! You popped on here to promote your shop (selling same thing) and have made a lot of assumptions about the forum and the people on here. I think demeaning the guys on this forum (we like or push Kraco-Boss -Boom ect) Is not a good business model IMO. Here is a little background on the bro's on here chasing the audio unicorn! We just had a Midwest Meet and Greet in Black River Falls Wi. where 20 guys showed up from Wi.-Mich- Il.-Iowa-TX- OK,- Ind.ect. Some of the guys that were there had system that were set up with the help of Alex Haze, the point being some of the bikes there probably (I haven't heard your bikes that you posted in person) sounded as good or better then the 1st bike you posted! Unless you think your bikes are the only great sounding bikes in the country, and nobody else such as Alex can set up a great sounding sled! I was just at Baddest Bagger in Chi-town (I've been to about 5 sled audio competitions) and many of the bikes there (which is the norm at all 5 comps) were LOUD but lack sound quality, the exception that I heard was Hot Rods and Handlebars bike, that had SQ and DB and hit hard! Point being some of the shops with winning reputations sounded like crap on wheels. Some of these posts are viewed by hundreds, sometimes over a thousand people on here (I'm sure this thread will be viewed by many) IMHO giving detailed info about set ups, speakers, amps, X-over settings, tuning and DSP setting (which you have started to do) will go along way in helping promote your shop, better for you and this forum, that many of the regulars(some have been on here for years such as Alex) are very passionate and protective about! New ideas and detailed info that will provide better sled audio is always welcome here...Dilly Dilly..Thanks for your expertise..King Louie...LOL (hope ya have a sense of humor you'll need it on here)!! MM

I'm working on my MBA and Louie's business approach is unlike any we've discussed so far. I'm going to bring it up to the professor this week that insulting potential customers is where it's at these days. It's an essential element to success and should be incorporated into all business models moving forward.
