Default 2018 RGU Audio Questions

Good Day, All. I have just over 4k miles on my 18 RGU. Love the bike; what a machine. Audio - eh; like everyone, it lacks tremendously; as I do travel faster than 40mph
I have spent the last week or so reading and searching through the forums. When I think I have decided on what I should order, I read something that sends me off in another direction. Lol.
So - just like the favorite topic "what oil should I use" LOL ... I decided to post a few questions specific to me in hopes to make some final decisions.

I spoke to Donna at Biketronics last week - Very impressed with their company. In fact, I almost pulled the trigger on the BT 4180 Amp Kit w/Breakout Harness & Titan II speakers. I hesitated because;

1: What do I do about the Tour Pack speakers? I'd prefer direct drop in's so I do not have to work with spacers - Does such speaker exist? Perhaps w/the right spacer, it will not "look bad" ?
2: I have read pro's and con's on the BT Titan Speakers (like you can read on anything) - Thoughts? I see where the Moto 602's are favored - Should I choose those over the BT TItan's?

My requirements:
1: I listen to all types of music
2: I would like to be able to turn the volume up and hear at highway cruising speeds w/o distortion or muddy 'splat'
3: If possible; I'd like more 'warmth' to the sound vs. all top end treble
4: I am not looking to compete w/my neighbor at the red light / down the street / at bike night
5: I want to do it right the first time (Prefer plug and pray; I mean play)

Thanks to all.
-Ryan

I just installed the Rockford-Fosgate front and rear kits on my RGS. After having the radio flashed, the beast was unleashed! That system is about as plug and play as it gets. The flash removes Harley EQ limits and let's the warmth come out of the system.

Your rear speakers are 6.5", same as the front. The RF solution comes with the rear harness that will plug directly into your rear speakers. It's a nice setup for someone looking for a solid upgrade that isn't over-the-top.

Default RF amp and speaker set up

What was the RF part number, where did you purchase? Online or bricks and mortar store? Who flashed the radio?

did you install and use the direct connect wiring harnesses?

I have the HD14-TKIT for the front, and TMS69BL14 speaker kit for the bags. I got a discount from a local mobile audio place, and they flashed the head unit for me since they are an authorized RF dealer. They tuned the system, also. All in, $1300 and I did the install myself.

Default Great info

Very helpful. I have been all over the place after reading reviews with pros/cons likes and dislikes and you can do better and those speakers are junk.

I figure in the scheme of things $500 bucks (a piecemeal system) won’t make me happy and $1,800 (ARC) I cant justify for a motorcycle sound system. But at some point you have to land the plane.

This is more than I thought I would spend (budget as $1,000) but for a self install, mostly plug in system of quality and compatibility with only a flas required I have wheels down and ready buy.

The HD forum is a great resource for help and confusion but in the end I am at least informed.

Thanks

Brother, for a fairing and TP speaker upgrade u can do far better than the RF stuff and at a significantly low cost. Bang for the buck mind u.

Stay the course and gather info.

Start by nailing a list down.
TP = Polk MM652
BT355 Line Leveler / Breakout Harness
Scosche amp wiring kit 8awg
Amp = ??
Fairing = ???

Amp and fairing speaks really should be specifically paired for best results.

Default Amp and speakers

i was thinking about Arc 600.4 amp for about $500 then Hertz Mille our focal 165’s speakers, about $260 in fairing (I read stay away from PA MM1’s in fairing). I can use the PA’s about $150 in the TP. By wiring harnesses etc and all about $1,000 and no flash required.

Thoughts?

Captain, the BT set ups IMO are one of the best Plug and play systems out there because of total value including warranty, customer service and sound! Saying all that you can do better by piecing together a system, but it involves more work and research to find the best options. Wmbailey has some good options in his post, but WM you should start your own thread for the best results.
