Default Mounting amp to tray?

just curious what others do when mounting an amp to a metal tray. Be it a Baddazz, j&m or other.
have heard it’s best not to mount directly to tray and
have another medium between the two be it wood , rubber mat or rubber spacers..
was going to pull fairing to clean up other issues and was going to remount amp atop 1/8” rubber mat.
made sense not bolting amp to metra tray that’s bolted to the metal inner frame.
an issue or not?

I just used Velcro. I’m pretty many others have done the same.

I agree and that’s how it is now. Just read that it’s best to not attach to a metal base that is also attached to inner fairing frame.
suggested to isolate between amp and base with mdf or rubber. Something non conductive.
or I’m over thinking...

I think you are over thinking it a bit, but I am also guilty of the same thing. When I did my install I wanted a nice amp tray to mount the amp to but discovered it really isn't needed. I got some locking velcro and mounted it directly to the amp tray. I basically covered the entire bottom of the amp with velcro. It's a solid mounting solution and looking back on it I am glad I didn't buy a tray when using velcro works so well.

Definitely NOT over thinking it. Hence why the rca ends should be wrapped too. I seen where an rca was grounded back to the radio to help fight noise.

Ditto on the Velcro plus zip ties. The reason being some amps like the SS PN4.1000d only have about 1/4" to spare between the frame rails in the fairing. Velcro keeps things stuck on, but an amp that heavy can wiggle a little bit from side to side. I used Velcro underneath the amp and put two zip ties on each side to pull down, that way it couldn't wiggle side to side.
