What is every one doing for speaker brackets when installing 6.5" speakers in the fairing using the plastic adapter rings? I'm sure there is a similar post somewhere but I haven't had any luck finding it.

Hey brother, I did not use any type of bracket to install my 6.5" speakers in my 2012 street glide. The adapters have three screws that attach the adapter to the fairing and then the four screws to hold the speaker to the adapter. No bracket was necessary. That was back in 2014-they are still holding up strong and I have changed speakers a couple times since then.

So didnt use these brackets and haven't had any issues?
Yes, you will need to add those or the upper brackets will fail faster. They should line up to one of the holes on the speaker and/or the adapter that is being used. The upper brackets will still fail, but with out that extra support it will happen a lot sooner.

My brackets are hitting the speaker and wont line up so it sounds like I might have to fabricate a new bracket..

My mistake, I thought the question was for additional brackets. I did use the orignal metal bracket that was on the bike when I replaced the OEM speakers with adapters and 6.5s. Did not mean to cause any confusion.
