Default Adding XM support

Sorry, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't seem to find a posting about it.

So, I see these modules:

Will these work with 2017 RGS stock HU? Or are we forced to buy the $300+ XM module from HD? What are the pros and cons of the one in the link if we can install them?

Hd's module fits into the Boom 6.5 just like a network card on a pc. It seamlessly integrates XM onto the Boom screen with all the channel/song info. You can change the channel, save presets and can also have weather/traffic options.

An aftermarket docked unit, you have to install separate power leads, an Auxiliary input to the Boom radio and have that input programmed. You also have to mount the docked unit where you can see the screen and reach the controls.

I've done both, I paid the piper and bought the hd unit. It's a lot of money, but worth it in the end.

I just had the dealer install the HD unit. After the 150 mile ride home dealing with the FM, it was a no brainer. 20 presets and no commercials. Too spoiled after having it in the truck and car.

Yeah thats me. lol Spoiled having it in my truck and now that I've lost FM reception with the amp, I thought about biting the bullet and getting XM.

I didn't see docked unit for a screen with this aftermarket piece, which was what was confusing. The second pic shows a HU, but I think that is an image of a stock car HU, not one that comes with the kit. Especially at 50 bucks.

I agree with the others. The HD unit is worth it in my opinion. Having it seamlessly integrated just works great. You can go cheaper and get an aftermarket unit but all it will do is play throught the head unit, not work with it.
