Default 2019 road glide ultra

I just purchased a new 2019 Road Glide Ultra, love the bike, sound system sucks lol. I have the opportunity to start from scratch on a killer system though and want to do it right. As I’ve researched I am having a hard time finding a system that stands out above the rest, it looks like rokkers and soundz don’t get the best wrap. I am not scared to install my own system with good instruction video. But bottom line is, I don’t mind putting out 2-3k max if necessary. Just looking for advice on amp(s), speaker, line levelers, flashing, etc... just speakers in fairing and tourpack? Or go for the lower and/or lids? Run all speakers through aftermarket amp? I am fairly novice with all of this, therefore am requesting help from the experts in this forum that if you had a clean slate and could do it right from the get go, what would be your ultimate set-up?

I'm afraid I can't help you with the specifics as I have an older Electra Glide, but I can say I enjoyed my system better each time I added a pair of speakers. I started out with the basic four - fairing and rear pod speakers. That was loud enough to hear, but that was about it. I then added lowers and it got a lot easier to hear and sounded better. When I finally added lid speakers I really enjoyed the sound. Sitting in the middle of all those sound points makes it much easier to hear at lower volumes so the harshness doesn't wear on you.

I also decided I wanted to keep marine grade components and sacrifice as little cargo space as possible. I know there are better sounding systems out there, but for me it is a motorcycle first and a stereo second. I was able to do everything with one amp in the fairing and one in the clutch side bag. With the budget you have outlined the Rushmore crew should be able to get you going in the right direction.

Thank you for your input, that does help knowing how the number of speakers has effected your experience, I will take a closer look at Rushmore too

Need a arc dsm 1st, then amps and speakers are your choice. I think prvs and a set of horns DD v03 or herts st25 are the favorites from what I've researched.

He's got a road glide, can't (easily) put horns up front. More or less limited to whatever fits in the 6.5" pocket.

If he is limited to the stock holes in the fairing then AD CX62s might be a good choice for that spot. Water resistant as well. Others would know better than I though, just throwing out what I have used myself.

Thanks Xiviperi, I must mention, I am forum illiterate ;b I have only recently began getting involved in any forum of any kind, and I get lost in all the lingo and abbreviations. I found arc audio, but am unsure what dsm stands for. I am unsure of what prvs means as well. I found dd audio, but not a v03 product. And the herts st25 must be the tweeters?

Sorry I’m such a noob, I really am making my best effort not to waste your guys time on the forum, and try to figure stuff out on my own before asking more questions. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me in my quest for great sound.

Also, as reguards to the budget, if through everyone’s combined experience here, it is advised that by spending more now could make my system exponentially (not nanometers) better and save me money in the long run, I am open to that recommendation. I am just not one to say that the most expensive stuff is always the best stuff. I want to put together a great system and put money in companies pockets that deserve it, not company’s who pray on the uninformed with fancy marketing.

Howardc, he is referring to some advanced sound shaping equipment. If you are new to the sled audio game you may want to start out with basic speakers and amps, which in your case would require a couple of BikeTronics line levelers, one for the front outputs and one for the rear and go with the four basic speakers for starters, get used to that, then maybe branch out from there.

I have done all eight speakers without any expensive electronic boxes, but I have a background in electronics so I didn't mind getting down and dirty with the wiring.

That being said, if you are willing to put in the time to research the components and talk with folks that have done dual amp systems on Rushmore era bikes like yours the knowledge is definitely here to walk you through the process.

OP,
Biketronics Line Leveler = Biketronics BT355 & Breakout harness. Just call them with ur sled specifics and the will set u up. Don't forget to ask for the Firum discount and military discount if applicable.
No need for an ARC DSP PSM.

Try and focus on full range component or coaxial speakers that pair well with a specific amp. Aka, the amps and speakers go hand in hand so try not to buy one of the other without make sure they compliment each other's capabilities.

When talking w them u might see what kind of pricing u can get on their RG Hertz 1650 speaker & grill setup. The last listed price I saw was way high. Don't buy the BT amp though.

I stopped by an audio shop this morning just out of couriosity. They are writing me up an estimate. They claim to have worked on plenty of Harley motorcycles and flashing them as well. They use pretty much all dd equipment. I will share quote when I get it. Maybe with my inexperience this is the way to go? He did sound practiced and knowledgeable on sled audio stuff, not just blowing smoke. I think (hope) I know enough to spot someone trying to fake their way through a conversation.
