Default charging system/ battery

I added 2 amps, rode this weekend and on the way home the battery light came on and volt meter showed it wasn't charging showed 11.5 volts. stop at a gas station unplugged one of the amp fired bike back up, showed was charging and volts went to 13.5 volts rode 100 mile home with no further problem. plug amp back in been riding short distance this week with no problem. Amps are Rockford fosgate 300/2 and 400/4. one amp in the fairing and one in saddlebag. anything I need to look at or recomdation to remedy the problem? Thank you for input

yes it was the Rockford fosgate 300/2 the wire size is pretty big maybe #2 I bought the Rockford install kit with it. Its a 2008 ultra classic 105th anniversary edition. the 4 channel amp is powered by 2 #10 wires to power and 2 #10 wires to ground the amp has two separate powers and grounds to the amp. It is in the saddlebag so I figured it was a short run and the should be enough to the amp. I was thinking of putting the 2 channel amp in the other bag to shorten the distance for it too.

Well the RF PBR series is known for getting hot, sometimes very hot. They are very inefficient and not a very clean sounding amp. The heat is a by product of the inefficiency of the amp which, I'm guessing puts more strain on the charging system. Other factors can play in as well, like a low input signal requiring a higher gain setting on the amp causing it to work harder, producing more heat. I have a few of those amps sitting on a shelf 'cause I won't use them anymore and hate to sell them to someone that may have a problem with them. I would recommend a CV B52 to replace it with, similar in price and much better sound quality without the heat.
