Thanks for the topic Tailwind.Yet again will be reading and trying to store info but I swear the more I know the less I know.i have to go check my file cause I can't even remember what the hell slope or cutoff is set at curently Am I the only one this dumb?¿¿??.
Haze had post about two hours at a tune I have 3 years but I don't know a snare to a violin true sound .
Good luck to all obviously smart enough to wrap your head around audio, fine/ perfect tuneing. I am jealous.but not giveing up
I think he means 20hz. If u have the gains up near 5 and a crossover of 90 w a slope of 6, I'm gonna guess that the Hz crossing the 0db line is in the 50s. The line probably starts in the 30s, possibly the high 20s.
Now this only helps the low side distortion and not the high freq harsh element associated w the PRV claim. A much earlier and gradual roll off freq with overlapping horn will mitigate some of that a bit.
Can u expand on that please Rob? I'm not picking up what ur laying down. If the amp is brighter it's just part of the subtractive tune to ur liking right?
T
A bright amp would possibly take more eq to to warm the sound (add to the lower frequencies or reduce the higher frequencies) depending on the sound you are trying to obtain to keep your ears from being stressed.

good point T, I didn’t figure gain settings into that curve.
WOW - don't I feel like I'm lost in the woods at night without a flashlight.....
don’t feel bad, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m new to DSPs and don’t have a clue what is right and wrong in this process. Hopefully Others will chime in with helpful tuning tips that we can all learn from. It seems like tuning tactics is something many don’t like to discuss openly.
Amen brother! I don't know shix about it either but I enjoy learning about shix. Just takes a little time and cold beer to move the ball down the field.
Also not surprised by the crickets. It is what it is.
Respect is absolutely on it with the RTA strategy. A very good feedback tool to make sure ur ears don't have special needs.
Getting to understand your speakers weaknesses & characteristics combined with a broader focus on subtractive EQ practices, slopes & Qs, will greatly assist us average Joes.
But at the end of the day, advanced tuning will greatly assist in demanding the full potential of a speaker however u can still only put so much lipstick on a pig. Some speakers will just not appeal to certain ears or setups.
