Will the Soundigital 800.4 be a good match to power two Prv 500mr 6.5`s and two Mmats 601.4`s and a Soundigital 250.2d to power DD B3 horns? I have a Soundstream pn4.1000d on everything now. It`s loud but I feel it should sound better. I also have another pn4.1000d powering two DD vo 6x9`s and rear channels bridged to two Prv 8mb600ft`s. I`m thinking the 8`s are being under powered. I`m looking at getting a Soundigital 1200.4 to power 8`s and 6x9`s.
I'm running the 800.4 (but 2 ohm version) to same pair of PRV's. They are loud. They can actually take more power. With the 2 ohm version, mine are bridged and parallel. So they are 200 watts to each speaker. Also running a 250 for same horns.
So yes, the 2 ohm version can provide plenty of power. On a side note, with the 2 ohm, you are more confined to 4 ohm speakers.
yes it will sound better, the only drwback is there are no adjustable crossovers. to get full crossover control, you;d need a dsp. if you had one, your proposed system should ROCK!

I just completed this same swap today. On marco's advice, I switched out from a PN4 which isn't a bad amp at all, to the 800.4 4 ohm version.
I am using it to power 2 4 ohm Rockford PPS6-4's in the dash wired in stereo for a 4 ohm load, 2 MMats 601.8's wired parallel to channel 1 and 2 MMats DXT26 horns (also 8ohm) wired parallel to channel 2 (this gives me a 4 ohm load across all channels). I use the DSR1 DSP so I can control the input voltage to each channel, that way running 2 different speakers off the same gain control can still be adjusted accordingly and balanced for needed power/volume.
It's an upgrade from the PN4 for sure. I can get louder, like a lot louder, and still be very clear. I'm also running a CV B52 in the tour pack with a pair of 601's back there as well. All in all, very pleased with the setup and definitely pleased with the Soundigital amp upgrade.
If you're doing all of this with just high pass crossovers though, I honestly think a DSR1 would benefit you more at this point than another amp. Bandpassing the PA speakers instead of just high passing them will make a hell of a difference in sound quality. I ran the Rockford PPS6-4's last year in my lowers for a while and hated them, thought they sounded like crap. On a whim I threw them back into the dash last week to try them again with a DSP so I could isolate them to the frequencies they were meant for (I have them bandpassed at 85/4.5k) and holy crap, those are LOUD clear speakers. They just fall apart in the upper frequencies like most PA/Midbass speakers. I run the MMats 601's at 95/6k. If I just high pass them, they also don't sound great.
Gotta have the whole package for those kinds of speakers.
