I ran it unbridged, on full pass at the amp, but crossed at 100hz in the HU till the speakers are fully broke in, then drop to 80hz at 12 db slope. I also cut some of the mid freqs in the HU till I got a sound i like. If your HU doesn't have a crossover run on high pass at the amp at 100 hz till speakers broke in, then after drop to 80-90 hz with a conservative gain setting. The G2's are loud enough that you won't have to run them on the ragged edge just to get the volume up.

I am using the stock HU. How do you get the frequency to an exact level? Do I need to read up on using a multimeter? Sorry for the stupid questions.

The multimeter is for initially setting the gains by voltage to spec by ohm/w. The cross is a function of setting the filter to HP, say for a small coax and adjusting the lower level to cut, which depending on the speaker/amp should be in between 80 to 100hz.

Is there a way to measure that because the dial just has the lowest number to the highest?

I don't know of an exact way to do it, but you can download an RTA app for a smartphone, and get an idea of when the freq drops off. Something like:

You can play a tone of the frequency you wish to cross it at with the filter set to all pass. Write down the voltage. Next play the tone and set the filter to high pass at the lowest frequency it can then slowly turn the filter up until the voltage equals the number you wrote down times .707. That should be close to 3 dB down at the crossover frequency and therefore tuned to the desired frequency.

Wondering how a 2nd set of G2's would work in the lowers, to go along with the G2's in my fairing? Too much upper end? Powered by a BT4180, so Sony MEX-M70 adjustments only. Other option thinking of is the Hertz SV165 in the low $200 budget.

Prob should find something that compliments ur fairing. What freq range are u in need of at speed. Prob midrange?

Yup .. Thinking that. Bring out a bit more fullness. Not sure of what coax type speaker might provide that with the 4180?
