I think there about a $40 difference. It's quite mind numbing figuring out what speakers to use. I was leaning to the Mmats PA601's but I am hearing I would do better with the PA601 cx's. BT was suggesting the Hertz SV's but I would have to modify the speaker pod in the lower. Not sure I want to do that at the moment.
I appreciate everyone's feedback!!!
Bite the bullet and do the minimal modding of the lowers. It's worth it. I know Tailwind and Traveling Gypsye both like the SV165 and if they agree it's got to be the ticket!
They may be referring to having to use a Dremel with a sanding wheel around the inner lip of the hole in the lowers to get some of the speakers with fat baskets to drop in. About the time I purchased my ADs they changed the design and the basket actually pushes out a little bit as it goes up towards the mounting lip. Also they had a waterproof coating over the basket which I'm sure added to the thickness. It didn't take much I think I ground off about 1/8" all the way around and they dropped in.
I could have used a spacer I guess but the Chinese grills I used stuck out a little bit themselves so I'm glad I went ahead and did the mod.
