So Juice, what r ur thoughts on the 8 ohm strategy? Is it something folks should be targeting if possible?

No disrespect T but I see you have switched regardless of the opinion a couple of years ago. Makes me really think there is some very good benefits to the switch. I didn’t even really understand some of you folks were running 8ohm until this thread started.

No disrespect at all brother. Thus is audio and the the minute everyone thinks they got it all figured out, it changes. That's half the fun. I change golf clubs a bunch too. Lol!!!

But are guys/gals going to 8 ohm due to product availability within the pro audio / mid bass / mid range arena or are 8 ohm speakers something that folks really should seek out? Do they really play better? More or less efficient? Require more of less watts to obtain the same DB? Are the more suitable to pair with amps for amp watt management / efficiency?

Cavity back or forged golf clubs? Same concept?

I sold my tommy armors and bought a set of titleist and only hit pro v's. my game didn't change any. Dammit. Point being it doesn't matter what you have as much as how you use it. Tuning is the key...….

Actually a forged cavity back iron is what you would be looking for.

Not sure what Titleist irons you've, anything would be better than Tommy Armours. Lol

I have Mizuno irons and really like them....

My opinion so far is the 8ohm helps with amp management more than anything. On a sled, I'm not yet convinced that SQ differences, if any, really exists.

Take that with a grain of salt, as I haven't stepped into the big league arena.....yet

Well this went sideways in a hurry. But there might be some damn similar concepts that can be paralleled.

Don't go out and buy 8 ohm speakers or forged irons just because the cool cats use them. They can fuxx up ur game in a heartbeat. But the can also really help ur game too, if u have the ability to use them.

Totally on board with the intent of Juices thread. Carefully evaluate all options as your sled audio setups evolve on order to maximize clean watts, & desired audio sound/quality/volume. Wiring strategies can play a big role in the outcome.

Well, with the choices of speaker available. I think you fill the void of the fz's needed. Now some of these said speakers are 8 ohm some are 4 ohm, i dont think it matters as long as you have the proper power to push them. This is where mapping out your system ahead of time pays off.

I have a buddy with a 1200.4 4ohm, and a 1200.4 2ohm and they are bridged and parallel wired accordingly. To get the most out of his 8 channels of power available.

In example,..I personally don't think there is a SQ difference between a 8ohm prv500mr and a 4ohm prv500mr. I have heard that the 8 ohm plays a little lower/warmer but, have not heard enough of a difference to say 8 or 4.

I think if you are already pregnant with speakers then plan your amp strategy accordingly, and vise versa if prgnant with a amp pick a speaker in the range needed and pick the resistance that will allow you to get the most out of your amps.

Headroom is a great thing but, i believe it is less important when you have a dsp and volume control on indivudual channels.

Hope my ramblings from a bar stool make sense, as i just seen the question. I have been riding and jamming all day.

Juice
